The Competitive Intelligence Business Development Associate reports to the Vice President, Department of Defense (DoD) Strategic Development and supports strategic growth initiatives by gathering, analyzing, and synthesizing competitive insights across the unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) market. This role is integral to GA-ASI's mission of advancing aerospace technology and maintaining a competitive edge in the industry and supports the company's efforts to develop innovative solutions and expand its market presence. The position directly informs business development campaigns, captures, and corporate strategy by identifying emerging trends, competitor activities, and potential opportunities. The individual coordinates closely with other components of Strategic Development, the P&Ls, Operations and GA-ASI affiliates to gain a comprehensive understanding of priorities, issues, activities, timelines, and products related to, or which might support, GA-ASI competitive advantage.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:
  • Provides advice, assistance, and support on all matters related to competitive intelligence and business development.
  • Monitors and analyzes defense industry trends, competitor positioning, contract awards, and government priorities relevant to GA-ASI's portfolio.
  • Supports pipeline business development by assessing potential opportunities and aligning them with internal capabilities and strategic priorities.
  • Identifies potential customers to develop and fosters partnerships.
  • Prepares concise competitive assessments, SWOT analyses, and briefings for leadership, capture teams, and program managers.
  • Analyzes and prepares detailed assessments of the annual DoD budget to understand the impacts to existing company programs of record and future opportunities.
  • Collaborates with Domestic and International Business Development teams, Government Affairs, and Strategic Planning teams to provide data-driven recommendations.
  • Tracks and maintains databases of opportunities, competitors, and market intelligence sources (e.g., SAM.gov, GovWin, FPDS).
  • Supports long-range strategic planning efforts and assists in the development of win strategies and value propositions.
  • Contributes to white papers, customer engagement planning, and proposal efforts with relevant market and competitor insights.
  • Provides written weekly updates on activities and progress.

Job Qualifications:
  • Typically requires a Bachelors degree in Marketing, Business Administration or related field and six or more years progressively complex marketing/sales experience. Equivalent professional experience may be substituted in lieu of education.
  • 3–5 years of experience in business development, competitive intelligence, or a related strategic role within the defense, aerospace, or high-tech industry.
  • Strong understanding of U.S. Department of Defense acquisition processes, including FAR/DFARS and the DoD budget cycle.
  • Demonstrated ability to research and analyze market data, competitor behavior, and government procurement trends.
  • Proficient with tools such as GovWin, SAM.gov, FPDS, and other defense industry databases.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to brief executive audiences.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance is required.



Salary:$89,180 - $155,825
