Job Summary General Atomics (GA), and its affiliated companies, is one of the world’s leading resources for high-technology systems development ranging from the nuclear fuel cycle to remotely piloted aircraft, airborne sensors, and advanced electric, electronic, wireless and laser technologies.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Semiconductor Process Engineer. Under general supervision and with regular review, this position supports semiconductor process development.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Collaborate with and support engineering staff in performing R&D tasks related to microelectronic device development
  • Conduct hands-on operation of state of the art microfabrication equipment including: stepper, mask aligner, spin coater, optical microscope, FTIR, ellipsometer, e-beam evaporator, thermal evaporator, PECVD, RIE, and device probe stations
  • Work in cleanroom laboratory and maintain day-to-day lab operations within cleanroom
  • Use metrology inspection tools to analyze and confirm device and wafer processing parameters
  • Perform Materials Analysis using Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM), and X-Ray Fluorescence spectroscopy to verify process integrity
  • Assist in research on new materials that could be used to produce microelectronic devices, advanced sensors, thin film transistors and other devices of interest
  • Conduct hands-on operation of thin film deposition equipment to produce thin film materials and perform process development
  • Perform other duties as assigned or required

Job Qualifications:
  • Typically requires a bachelors or masters degree in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and two or more years of engineering experience with a bachelors degree. May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education.
  • Experience in device processing techniques including photolithography, etching, metal and dielectric film deposition, material and device analysis, and process development is required
  • A degree in chemistry, physics or materials science is desirable
  • Experience with semiconductor device processing is desired
  • Materials Analysis experience using Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM), and X-Ray Fluorescence spectroscopy is desired
  • Must possess the ability to understand new concepts quickly and apply them accurately throughout an evolving environment and organize work assignments to meet established timetables
  • Must have strong communication, computer, documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills, the ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Able to respond quickly to project needs for data and analysis, i.e., able to work early and/or late hours when required by urgent project needs.
  • Ability for some travel as required (generally less than 10%).
  • Perform other duties as assigned or required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOD security clearance is required.
