Job Summary General Atomics (GA), and its affiliated companies, is one of the world’s leading resources for high-technology systems development ranging from the nuclear fuel cycle to remotely piloted aircraft, airborne sensors, and advanced electric, electronic, wireless and laser technologies.
General Atomics Electromagnetic Systems (GA-EMS) designs and manufactures first-of-a-kind electromagnetic and electric power generation systems. GA-EMS’ expanding portfolio of specialized products and integrated system solutions support critical fleet, space systems and satellites, missile defense, power and energy, and process and monitoring applications for defense, industrial, and commercial customers worldwide.
We have an exciting opportunity for a Material and Services Expeditor to join our Electromagnetic Systems (EMS) Group. The Material and Services Expeditor monitors and coordinates the timely delivery of materials and services required for ongoing operations or specific projects. The role involves close collaboration with vendors, internal departments (such as procurement, logistics, and project teams), and warehouse personnel to ensure procurement schedules are maintained and potential delays are proactively managed.
This role has the potential to transition into a permanent Material Planner position, contingent upon performance and business needs.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Track Orders: Monitor purchase orders to ensure on-time delivery of goods and services.
- Vendor Liaison: Communicate regularly with buyers to confirm production schedules, shipment dates, and potential delays.
- Coordination: Interfaces with operating and support groups (Purchasing, Finance, Master Scheduling, QA) to collect data for preparation of reports.
- Problem Resolution: Identify and resolve supply chain bottlenecks, delivery discrepancies, or quality issues.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of materials, delivery timelines, and vendor communications.
- Reporting: Provides management with clear, timely and accurate information with which to make decisions. Alerts management to deviations (or potential deviations) from established plans.
- Inventory Coordination: Demonstrates use of SAP for finding and interpreting data in Stock/Requirements List, Purchase Requisitions, Purchase Orders, and other material inventory transactions to aid in the development and publishing of reports.
- Support Procurement: Assist buyers or procurement officers with follow-ups on outstanding orders or rush requests.
- Additional Functions Other duties as assigned or required.

- Strong organizational and communication skills

- Familiarity with procurement and supply chain processes
- Basic knowledge of ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite)
- Problem-solving abilities and adaptability under pressure
- Ability to work with cross-functional teams
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field
- Experience in procurement, logistics, or supply chain roles
- Industry-specific knowledge (e.g., construction, oil & gas, manufacturing)
