Job Summary General Atomics Electromagnetic Systems (GA-EMS) designs and manufactures first-of-a-kind electromagnetic and electric power generation systems. GA-EMS’ expanding portfolio of specialized products and integrated system solutions support critical fleet, space systems and satellites, missile defense, power and energy, and process and monitoring applications for defense, industrial, and commercial customers worldwide.

We are seeking a talented Power BI Developer to join our Quality Assurance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing and developing data models, interactive data visualizations, reports, and dashboards using Power BI. You will work closely with stakeholders across the business areas to understand their requirements and deliver solutions that enable data-driven decision-making across the organization.

With general direction and limited review, this position acts as a liaison between one or more business system users such as finance, payroll, purchasing, marketing, quality assurance, manufacturing, and human resources and the information systems technical staff to ensure that information technology design, data, reports, systems and processes meets the needs of the end users. As the business activity advocate, facilitates and provides leadership for all information technology developments including but not limited to: developing product/service/report specifications to ensure end user requirements are fulfilled; and evaluating new and/or modifying/upgrading existing business processing hardware and software systems. Participates in strategic planning for overall business system(s) development.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Design and develop Power BI reports, dashboards, and visualizations that meet business requirements
  • Work closely with stakeholders to understands key challenges facing our business and partner to find creative ways to apply data analytics to solve them; connects dots between data & business outcomes
  • Translate business requirements into technical specifications
  • Optimize data models for performance, usability, and self-service reporting
  • Design and implement ETL/ELT pipelines to integrate data from various sources (Experience with Microsoft Dataflows a plus)
  • Ensure data accuracy and integrity in all visualizations and reports
  • Provide training and support to end users on Power BI usage
  • Document data sources, calculations, and assumptions for transparency
  • May provide training, guidance, and direction to less experienced staff
  • Responsible for observing all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.
  • Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.

Job Qualifications:
  • Typically requires a bachelor's degree and six or more years technical experience working with computerized systems such as financial, accounting, purchasing, payroll, human resources, manufacturing, or other business related systems. May substitute equivalent experience in lieu of education.
  • Experience in an analytical role with a heavy focus on querying data, analyzing, and clearly presenting analyses to stakeholders across the organization.
  • Strong working SQL knowledge and experience with relational databases, query authoring (SQL) as well as working familiarity with a variety of reporting packages and hierarchical data structures (Business Objects, SAP Crystal Reporting, MS Power BI; Access).
  • Exceptional skills in leadership, time management, facilitation, and organization.
  • Experience in managing stakeholders.
  • Advanced Excel and writing abilities.
  • Excellent presentation skills.
  • Adept at data query and report design using cloud-based databases/technologies and working in collaborative environments with version control.
  • Experience with speaking to groups in public for training or educational purposes.
  • Experience with data management, quantitative data analysis, and trend forecasting.
  • Strong analytics & data-driven mindset with excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge and experience working with Enterprise Resource Planning systems (i.e., SAP modules: MM, SD, QM, PP, GPD).
  • Strong business analytics and quantitative analytical abilities, including a thorough understanding of common data analysis tools and programs.
  • Ability to communicate (oral and in writing) complex and technical information in a simple, clear, and straightforward manner, including the use of graphs and tables as needed.
  • Skilled in presentation composition communications technology, including PowerPoint, and in creating engaging, articulate audience presentations.
  • Ethical and objective, with the ability to navigate in a political environment.
  • Demonstrate the ability to effectively manage conflict and develop effective working relationships with all levels of an organization and diverse working groups.
  • Extensive and detailed technical expertise in the application of relevant data analytic principles, theories, and concepts.
  • Ability to provide leadership, mentorship, and direction to staff and colleagues while representing the organization.
  • Excellent analytical, verbal, and written communication skills and great attention to detail to accurately document, report, and present findings/recommendations to a variety of audiences.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to influence and guide others.
  • The ability to initiate, plan, and manage simultaneous projects effectively and efficiently.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite (i.e., Word, Excel, Outlook) and other necessary technologies.
  • Ability to meets deadlines and effectively manage multiple priorities.
  • Must be customer focused, able to look at long-term trends and emerging requirements, and understand government cost accounting.
  • Able to work extended hours as required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance is required.
