Job Summary General Atomics (GA), and its affiliated companies, is one of the world’s leading resources for high-technology systems development ranging from the nuclear fuel cycle to remotely piloted aircraft, airborne sensors, and advanced electric, electronic, wireless and laser technologies.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Business Systems Analyst at our Torrey Pines, San Diego, CA location. This is a technical internal and limited external customer-facing role. The BSA will be part of the Systems and Infrastructure team that maintains and enhances the applications and systems used by the Contracts, Procurement and Proposals Management (CPPM) organization.

The Systems and Infrastructure team analyzes business and technical processes surrounding supported applications and systems and finds ways to improve on those processes and make them more efficient using technology. In addition to process support, the Systems and Infrastructure team works closely with CPPM teammates to provide application support and serve as the bridge between the business and technology teams, such as Information Technology Services (ITS) and external system vendors. The team goal is to make daily CPPM operations more streamlined by improving system processes and tools, ultimately improving efficiency and the user experience.

The BSA provides day-to-day customer support associated with the systems, processes, and documentation managed by the Systems and Infrastructure team. As a champion for operational excellence and continuous improvement, the BSA will work closely and collaborate with various levels of users and other teams on a regular basis to provide all levels of support. This includes system and user troubleshooting, collecting and documenting business processes and requirements documents, creating new and improving existing documentation for system or process improvements, and providing daily administrative support and data entry.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Monitor and maintain team operations, resolve incoming support requests, and improve documentation
  • Troubleshoot and resolve support requests, and help triage and assign team resources when needed
  • Report on a variety of metrics to system availability and support effectiveness
  • Coordinate with development, user, and network teams to ensure systems meet business needs
  • Work with analysts to design, build, implement, and improve systems usability and usage
  • Test major and minor enhancements as part of the analyst team and coordinate with project teams to support user testing
  • Work with team members to create and document business process and requirements documents
  • Coordinate directly with business users and business analysts to understand and analyze business specifications
  • Support the user base with operational issues
  • Analyze, validate, and develop business and technical process requirements
  • Develop system requirements, techniques, and controls
  • Lead or participate in implementation efforts
  • Support internal software needs as they are implemented
  • Test, train, and implement various systematic processes that align with business needs
  • Represent the business in gathering, defining, and determining requirements and business cases for process and technology improvement efforts
  • Develop user requirement specifications and ensuring consistency, traceability, feasibility, and completeness
  • Collaborate with other teams across the organization
  • Make our team available to all business levels to ensure day-to-day processes are supported
  • Perform other duties as assigned or required to improve business operations and team presence

Job Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree with knowledge of business practices, techniques, standards and related software/hardware, and computer systems
  • Equivalent professional experience may be substituted in lieu of education
  • Aggressive problem solver who can independently research best practices and recommend solutions
  • Customer service oriented
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentations skills to accurately document and report findings to a variety of audiences, including Management and Leadership
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment is essential
Preferred
  • Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Computer Science or in a related field such as Management Information Systems (MIS) or Computer Information Systems (CIS)
  • 3+ years of experience in a technical customer support or related role
  • Experience providing support to both remote and in person users
  • Experience with at least one of the following: SAP (preferred), Oracle ERP, NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics
  • Experience with requirements analysis and creating business and technical documentation
  • Experience with application testing and implementations and post go-live technical support
  • Experience or familiarity with materials management, procure to pay, supply chain, proposal to cash, contracts, order to cash
  • Experience with Jira, Confluence, Visio, Microsoft Office Suite (Word and PowerPoint)
  • Basic understanding of Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), Agile, Scrum and Kanban frameworks, project management concepts
  • Knowledge of business process/life cycle management principles, theories and concepts, and a general understanding of industry practices, techniques, and standards
  • Ability to work extended hours and travel as required
