We have an exciting opportunity for a Business Continuity (BC) Specialist located in Torrey Pines, CA.

This position is responsible for managing efforts regarding the development and implementation of the GA BC program, to include plan structure and organization, plan templates and checklists, and other location specific BC requirements that are consistent with corporate program guidelines.

The primary responsibility is to guide and facilitate BC planning efforts at General Atomics, with a major focus on assisting with the completion and ongoing maintenance of site risk analysis, Business Impact Analysis (BIA) and the development of standardized BC plans that align with corporate program requirements. Additionally, this position will also lead efforts for accomplishing training and exercises, and will help to coordinate or assist (as required) with the implementation of BC plans during significant events that impact GA business operations.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Responsible for facilitating and guiding Risk Assessments, functional area BIA’s and BC plan development, instituting and monitoring an annual maintenance schedule for all BC plans, as well as updating plans in response to findings provided through the post-incident or exercise report process.
  • Prepare technical reports and develop appropriate electronic and hard copy reports and records. Make internal presentations. May make external presentations.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of business continuity policies and procedures.
  • Participate in the development, maintenance and testing of detailed plans to ensure continuity of business processes.
  • Provides support for company emergency and / or crisis events; responsible for ensuring all tools, plans, and checklists are available to recovery teams for implementation during response to and recovery from an event that impacts business operations.
  • May provide leadership, direction, and training to less experienced staff.
  • Maintain the strict confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Job Qualifications:
  • Typically requires a Bachelor's degree in business administration or related field and three or more years progressive experience in business continuity. Equivalent experience may be substituted in lieu of education.
  • Equivalent experience may be substituted in lieu of education.
  • Must demonstrate comprehensive technical knowledge in the application of business continuity concepts and practices, with the ability to organize, schedule, conduct, and coordinate workloads to meet established milestones.
  • Solid understanding of program or project management methodologies; strong administrative and organization skills with the drive to create a plan and meet established deadlines
  • Proficient skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint and Outlook); familiar with utilizing Business Continuity software platforms, mass notification solutions, situational awareness tools, SharePoint, and other applications.
  • Experienced in understanding and creating process flows and dependency mappings.
  • Knowledgeable with Business Continuity and ISO standards, as well as other compliance rules and regulations.
  • Must be customer focused and possess: (1) the ability to identify issues, analyze and interpret data and develop innovative solutions to a variety of moderately complex matters; (2) strong analytical, verbal and written communication skills to accurately document, report, and present findings to a variety of audiences including senior management: (3) strong interpersonal skills to influence and guide all levels of employees (4) the ability to initiate, plan, and manage projects; and (5) strong computer skills.
  • Demonstrated clear, concise, and effective communication skills with individuals, small, or large groups.
  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment is essential as is the ability to work extended hours and travel as required.
