Job Summary General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI), an affiliate of General Atomics, is a world leader in proven, reliable remotely piloted aircraft and tactical reconnaissance radars, as well as advanced high-resolution surveillance systems.

Under general supervision, this position is responsible for the design, layout creation, and preparation of artwork for inclusion in technical manuals and publications.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Prepares charts, graphs and two- and three-dimensional drawings, files and animation from rough sketches, models, written or verbal direction, photographs and/or engineering drawings; illustrates and/or animates tools, products, machines, parts, procedures, buildings, and figure; may illustrate and/or animate full system models.
  • Coordinates requirements with users to determine illustrative objectives.
  • Edits, rewrites and authenticates technical user manuals, application papers, product descriptions, data sheets and specification books; receives text from technical staff and rewrites documentation in a clear and concise style.
  • Improves editorial and visual standards for documents and may recommend new designs, layouts and procedures.
  • Participates in quality checking through analysis of engineering models to engineering drawings and logistics management information databases.
  • Maintains the strict confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Responsible for observing all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.
  • Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.

Job Qualifications:
  • Typically requires a two-year degree in a related discipline or trade school equivalency and two or more years of experience in a related field. Equivalent work experience may be substituted in lieu of education.
  • Must demonstrate a general understanding of technical illustration practices and concepts; and engineering drawings of a highly technical nature and mark-up languages.
  • Must be able to understand and manipulate 3D engineering models, ability to adhere to drafting standards and specifications, general knowledge of file formats and their functions, file export requirements and developing illustrations and animations.
  • Must be customer focused and possess:
    • the ability to grasp new concepts quickly
    • the ability to identify issues and recognize deviations from accepted practices and processes and resolve moderately complex issues
    • good organizational, analytical, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills to accurately document and report
    • working knowledge of computer operations and applications
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment is essential as is the ability to work extended hours as required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance is required.

Salary:$52,020 - $77,325
