Job Summary General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI), an affiliate of General Atomics, is a world leader in proven, reliable remotely piloted aircraft and tactical reconnaissance radars, as well as advanced high-resolution surveillance systems.
Under only general direction, this position maintains the smooth operation of multi-user computer systems. Participates in the development and monitoring of the assigned organization's policies and standards for allocation and use of office automation equipment and computing resources. Ensures the organization policies and standards are integrated with the overall company policies and standards. Duties include user account administration, maintaining documentation, system hardware and software installation and configuration, allocation of mass storage space, effectively securing computing resources, and backing up systems to provide data integrity. May function in an advisory role providing direction to professional or technical staff and may participate with management in short and long term planning. Coordinates the assigned organization's electronic office systems activities which may include: personal computers; server systems and associated software; and standard software products. Interacts with all levels of users and analyzes vendor products. May make recommendations to purchase hardware and software, coordinate installation, and train internal users.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plans coordinates and monitors day-to-day operation and maintenance of computer systems, including Windows, Linux and Unix operating systems and applications.
- Determines solution(s) for highly complex system problems. Troubleshoots and evaluates hardware and software.
- Guides and develops the plan for the implementation of system changes or upgrades including deployment, resource requirements, testing, documentation, integration and compliance and safety.
- Participates in planning for future applications or solutions based on new technology.
- May be the primary contact with suppliers and vendors.
- May function in a leadership role to less experienced professional or technical staff.
- Maintains the strict confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Responsible for observing all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company. Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.
- Additional Functions Other duties as assigned or as required.
Job Qualifications:
- Typically requires a bachelor's degree in information technology or a related discipline and six or more years of progressive professional systems administration experience in an information technology department. May substitute equivalent working experience in the field in lieu of education.
- Must demonstrate a complete understanding of system administration concepts, practices, and standards including but not limited to system installation, configuration and management, performance tuning and measurement, back-up, recovery, TCP/IP and related internet protocols and network concepts, security/firewalls, web servers, and load balancing.
- Must have organizational skills including scheduling, conducting, and coordinating work assignments to meet project milestones or established completion dates. Must be able to contribute to the development of new processes and resolve a variety of complex technical problems in a creative and efficient manner.
- Must be customer focused and possess:
- the ability to identify issues, analyze and interpret data and develop solutions to a variety of highly complex problems;
- excellent analytical, verbal and written communication skills to accurately document, report, and present findings;
- excellent interpersonal skills to guide employees;
- the ability to represent the company as a knowledgeable resource on external projects; and
- excellent computer skills. Ability to work independently or in a team environment is essential as is the ability to work extended hours and travel as required.
- Ability to obtain and maintain DoD security clearance required.
Salary:$81,080 - $141,650
