This position is responsible for ensuring company compliance with Aviation Safety requirements as dictated by DoD, Service, or contract statement of work. Continually reviews status of the project(s) and budgets to ensure project(s) are completed on time and within budget. Assesses project issues and develop solutions to meet production, quality, and customer-satisfaction goals and objectives. Develop mechanisms for monitoring project status, interventions if necessary, and problem solving with project management, line management, and the customer. Job can be located at Victorville, CA High Desert facility or Poway, CA.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assist in management of the Company’s Aviation Safety Management System.
  • Maintain a working knowledge and oversight of all Government Flight Representative (GFR) approved ground and flight operations procedures.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of all DoD regulations affecting GA-ASI ground and flight operations.
  • General understanding of maintaining and/or implementing a FOD and BASH program.
  • Collect and provide corporate inputs to DCMA regulators for issues affecting company operations.
  • Investigate problem areas as they relate to aviation safety hazards/incidents/mishaps, interface with various cross functional departments to evaluate scope and/or risk of an issue, actively drive acceptance of potential recommendations, facilitate customer adoption, and track status to full issue resolution.
  • Develop mechanisms to track and report status of recommended improvements across the company product line and customer base.
  • Assist in the development and management of the aviation safety database.
  • Coordinate cross functional teams to ensure solutions meet company and customer objectives.
  • Provide leadership, direction, and guidance to employees working on the assigned program.
  • Identify and assess aviation safety issues and assist in developing solutions to meet safety goals and objectives while maintaining productivity, quality, and customer satisfaction.
  • Draft and publish aviation safety memos outlining an issue with potential solutions.
  • May participate in or lead presentations to customers and executive management on the Aviation Safety aspects of an issue, proposed solutions, and status of implementation.

Job Qualifications:
  • Typically requires a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related discipline and at least six years of progressively complex experience in project administration. May substitute equivalent experience in lieu of education.
  • Formal training (civilian or military) in Aviation Safety preferred.
  • Must be familiar with general principles of Aviation Safety or Safety Management Systems.
  • Must be familiar with principles of project management including processes and procedures, planning and scheduling methods, and budget management as well as the ability to organize, schedule, and coordinate workloads to meet established milestones and budgets.
  • Must possess:
    • the ability to initiate, plan and manage projects
    • the ability to identify issues, analyze and interpret data and develop solutions to a wide range of complex issues
    • strong communication, computer, documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skill
    • the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Must have experience with the Microsoft Office suite of tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.).
  • Must have the ability to interpret and understand regulations; apply that understanding to a diverse and dynamic organization and predict and correct problem areas before operations are affected.
  • Must be a self-starter with good communication, computer, documentation, and interpersonal skills, ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team; and capable of effectively interacting with management and customers.
  • Experience with aircraft and related military systems is highly desired: Hands-on experience in aircraft flight and ground operations, and /or specifically, experience in operations and/or maintenance of UAV operational or aircraft systems, such as avionics, mechanical/engines, electrical/electronics, RF, EO/IR, and weapons systems.
  • Experience conducting Aviation Safety or Quality Assurance audits is desired.
  • Familiarity with Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA) Instruction 8210 and ground and flight operations conducted with DCMA oversight is desired.
  • Has the ability to work within the system to achieve results despite institutional challenges. A creative problem solver that can bridge the gap between design and use.
  • Must be able to work extended hours and travel 25-50% of the time including overseas as needed.
  • Current passport required for international travel.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance is required.

Salary:$72,500 - $129,770
