Job Summary General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI), an affiliate of General Atomics, is a world leader in proven, reliable remotely piloted aircraft and tactical reconnaissance radars, as well as advanced high-resolution surveillance systems.

This position is responsible for applying engineering knowledge in the operations environment, leveraging technical experience to develop and execute plans for transitioning product realization processes to a digital-thread model. Additionally, this role is responsible for addressing product or process investigations in the quality department using technical and managerial skills to address root causes. This includes managing and coordinating the daily operational aspects of a project, communicating progress milestones, risks, and key decisions to various levels of management & project team members. Continually reviews status of the project and budget; manages schedules and develops appropriate reports to document progress of the project. Assesses project issues and develops solutions to meet production, quality, and customer-satisfaction goals and objectives. Participates in the development of mechanisms for monitoring project progress and for intervention and problem solving with project management, line management, and the customer.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Investigate technical and non-technical process and product defects, preparing briefings on topics to leadership & support teams.
  • Lead cross functional teams responsible for corrective and preventive actions associated with processes or product non conformances in the factory or supply chain.
  • Lead root cause analysis on complex business processes breakdowns & technical product anomalies discovered within the factory or supply chain.
  • Lead non-reporting teams to develop cross functional solutions to problems.
  • Establish and monitor measures for capturing effectiveness of solutions.
  • Provide program management including the implementation, deployment and sustaining of CI improvements and change management initiatives. Must be able to assist others in removing obstacles which may otherwise impede success.
  • Provide strategic input to management regarding risks, opportunities, and possible solutions related to quality processes and partnering departments.
  • Must be able to bring conflicting ideas together, creating an environment that fosters collaboration among competing viewpoints and against cultural norms.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications:
  • Typically requires a Bachelors in Engineering or related discipline and eight or more years of progressively complex experience in the project administration field with at least five of those years in project management. May substitute equivalent experience in lieu of education.
  • Must have strong leadership skills, independent and unbiased, capable of quickly gaining trust and loyalty and inspiring/coaching others toward achievements, while developing positive and effective working relationships with superiors, subordinates, peers, customers, and others
  • Must demonstrate an extensive understanding of project management processes and procedures, planning and scheduling methods, and budget management as well as the ability to organize, schedule, and coordinate workloads to meet established milestones and budgets.
  • Must act with urgency when product related concerns have the potential to affect safety of personnel or fielding of product.
  • Must have experience with coaching, encouraging, and motivating others in predominately non-reporting teams to produce desired outcomes.
  • Must possess strong problem-solving skills and excel in analyzing relevant and essential facts.
  • Must possess the ability to understand new concepts & technical content quickly, applying learned information in a fast-paced environment for tactical purposes.
  • Must have excellent communication, computer, documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Must have ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government in-scope DoD Secret security clearance or higher.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Knowledge of GA-ASI organizations, processes, and products preferred.
  • Experience with engineering design controls processes, various manufacturing processes, sourcing, and inspection techniques.
  • Experience with SAP enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems
  • Experience with design configuration management and product lifecycle management (PLM) systems.
  • Experience with project planning, investigation, and milestone reporting.
  • Experience with problem solving techniques such as root cause analysis, process mapping, and leading Kaizen events.
  • Displays eagerness to investigate and the ability to make sound decisions when faced with multi-faceted problems by effectively weighing risks, uncertainties, and assumptions.
  • Lean / Six Sigma green belt desired, black belt preferred.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain DoD Security Clearance required.
