We have an exciting opportunity for a Operations Project Quality Engineer to support our GA-ASI Quality Team in Poway, California. Quality is a core value at GA-ASI and a cornerstone of why our customers depend on us. GA-ASI seeking a Quality Operations Project Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals supporting the San Diego and High Desert facilities. The qualified applicant will be a leading voice for Quality in the Program Office(s) to which they become a key team member.

The Operations Project Quality Engineer develops, documents, and directs the implementation and evaluation of quality assurance programs and systems on one or more large projects. Provides expertise and guidance in interpreting national and international quality standards and government regulations. Consults with engineering and manufacturing to ensure quality standards are in place. Works on highly complex and diverse problems where analysis of situations or data requires in-depth evaluation of various factors.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Determines program objectives for quality assurance as well as approaches to completing projects.
  • Creates or recommends process changes to improve products and reduce costs.
  • Coordinates with Program Management and Operations to provide oversight of customer acceptance process and plans. Participates in configuration audits, functional testing, and/or inspection of equipment and systems.
  • Audits quality systems for deficiency identification and correction. Implements solutions to complex problems occurring internally and at vendor facilities.
  • May prepare statistical analysis reports, specifications, and other technical documents.
  • Interprets and adapts quality standards and government regulations.
  • Acts as program representative with suppliers, customers, and regulatory personnel to resolve quality issues. Delivers technical presentations and provides project direction to other team members.
  • Assists in resolving, communicating, and tracking non-conformances and corrective action plans and participates in material review board. Acts as program liaison to review non-conformances and corrective actions with customer representatives.
  • Responsible for observing all laws, regulations, and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.

Job Qualifications:
  • Typically requires a Bachelors in Business Administration or related discipline and thirteen or more years of progressively complex experience in the project administration field with at least seven of those years in project management.
  • Must be able to apply a detailed understanding of inspection methods and have a comprehensive knowledge of computer operations and applications. SAP experience desired.
  • Must have a comprehensive knowledge of concepts, techniques, and methods in aerospace Quality Assurance.
  • Must have the analytical ability required to develop creative solutions to complex quality issues and the skills required to present those solutions to internal and external contacts.
  • Must have excellent communication and leadership skills to interface effectively with suppliers, customers and regulatory personnel.
  • Must be able to work effectively in a team environment and demonstrate the ability to lead.
  • Must have effective communication skills (written and verbal) and strong technical skills.
  • The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, military/government instructions and regulations is a requirement.
  • Subject matter expert on U.S. Air Force, NAVAIR, and/or FAA Quality Assurance programs, policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Familiarization of international aviation standards and regulations highly desirable as well as experience working with the MQ-1 and MQ-9 series of aircraft.
  • Proven experience in the maintenance of ISO9001/AS9100 or recognized equivalent quality system procedures/programs.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain DoD Security Clearance required.
