Job Summary General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI), an affiliate of General Atomics, is a world leader in proven, reliable remotely piloted aircraft and tactical reconnaissance radars, as well as advanced high-resolution surveillance systems.
We have an exciting opportunity for a material planner in our software engineering department supporting engineers within our Systems Integration Labs (SIL) with general direction.
DUTIES AND RESPONSABILITIES:
- Under general supervision, this position is responsible for providing planning administration for research-related or production projects of moderate scope, including scheduling, budgeting, performance monitoring, analysis reporting, expediting, personnel planning and purchasing.
- Advises management of the status of work in progress and identifies potential project problems.
- Essential Functions:
- Provides planning administration to various tasks/projects including scheduling, budgeting, performance monitoring, analysis, reporting, expediting, personnel planning, purchasing and other duties as assigned.
- Create purchase requisitions, sales orders, work orders and other types of orders creating demand to fulfill internal and external requirements
- Contributes to efficient operation of organization by modifying or developing short and long-range plans and schedules reports and providing progress follow-up and adjustment information.
- Investigates and resolves manufacturing related issues; performs product assessments for part or product designs; provides input for processes and technologies to meet cost and schedules.
- Interfaces with operating and support groups (Purchasing, Contracts, Finance, QA, Inventory, Production, Demand Management) to collect data for preparation of schedules and reports.
- Provides task leaders and project management with clear, timely and accurate information with which to make decisions. Alerts operating or project management to deviations (or potential deviations) from the established plan.
- Develops standard and non-standard reports; identifies issues, exceptions and variances and develops solutions to moderately complex issues; reviews processes and procedures to support business and regulatory agency requirements.
- Responsible for observing all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.
- Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.
Job Qualifications:
- Typically requires a Bachelors degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Planning, Engineering, Production Control or a related discipline. May substitute equivalent experience in lieu of education.
- Must have a general understanding of planning principles, theories and concepts as well as ability to understand accounting and manufacturing systems in a research or production environment and to learn and apply basic planning tools and techniques; and knowledge of concepts and principles of planning to develop solutions to a variety of problems.
- Must have working knowledge of SAP
- Knowledge of SharePoint, AssetSmart, AMPS, and GOLD is preferred
- Must have reporting experience – able to pull multiple reports and combine for one cohesive report
- Strong research, problem solving, and follow up skills
- Ability to be able to lift ~30lbs. is preferred
- Experience using movement equipment such as dollies, hand trucks, carts, etc.
- Must maintain a well balanced focus between external and internal customer requirements and possess:
- the ability to identify issues and interpret data;
- organization skills to maintain flow of work within the unit;
- good interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills to interface with internal employees and to accurately document, report and present;
- ability to maintain the strict confidentiality of sensitive information;
- knowledge of computer operations and applications and word processing and spreadsheets.
- Operate effectively in high-pressure and fast-paced environments, ensuring quality and accuracy under tight deadlines.
- Prioritize tasks and responsibilities efficiently, balancing multiple assignments while meeting time-sensitive objectives.
- Tag and induct assets into the tracking system as required, ensuring proper documentation, accurate inventory updates, and compliance with organizational standards.
- Ability to work both independently and in a team environment is essential as is the ability to work extended hours as required.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance is required.
