We have an exciting opportunity for a Engineering Check Manager located in Poway, CA.

This position is responsible for managing the design and drafting functions within the Mechanical Engineering Check Group. Requires planning and management of department activities to meet company and contractual requirements. Manages the drawing check function of major components, major portions of a functional system, or technically advanced prototypes across multiple sites in open and classified environments in multiple CAD platforms (Creo, Solidworks, NX) and PDM/PLM tools (Windchill, Solidworks, SharePoint, Team Center). Establishes operating policies and procedures for the function. Collaborates with other departments affected by design development to establish current and long-term objectives. Typically accomplishes objectives through subordinate management and/or professional staff. May be responsible for decisions that have an extended and significant impact on outcomes across the company.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Manage the planning and development of standard design/drafting processes, while maintaining Technical Libraries working closely with Engineering, Configuration Management, Quality and Manufacturing.
  • Manage and monitor all design and drafting activities for compliance with company and/or contractual requirements.
  • Maintenance and advancement of drawing standards, templates, notes, and parts/fasteners libraries; continuing development and growth of model/assembly and GD&T drawing check activities plus engineering peer-to-peer reviews.
  • Manage the review of completed layouts and drawings for clarity, completeness, conformity to standards, and accuracy.
  • Identify design issues and recommend revisions and/or improvements in design layout.
  • Develop and implement design and drafting standards, manuals, procedures and formats.
  • Determine hardware and operating system software. Collaborate with executive management on decisions relating to engineering data management including both document control and CAD.
  • Manage the planning, attraction, selection, retention, and development of human resources to ensure the availability of the required professional and technical talent.
  • Maintain the strict confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Responsible for ensuring all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations are observed wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.
  • Responsible for ensuring work is accomplished in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices
  • Other duties as assigned or required

Job Qualifications:
  • Typically requires education or formal training equivalent to the completion of a Bachelors degree and thirteen or more years of progressive experience in design. Additional professional experience may be substituted in lieu of education.
  • Must have a demonstrated expertise of design and drafting principles, regulations and practices as well as extensive knowledge of CAD, UNIX and Windows software and operating systems.
  • Must have proven leadership skills including organizing, planning, scheduling and coordinating workloads to meet established deadlines.
  • Must possess the ability to resolve extremely complex technical and management issues along with excellent verbal and written communication skills to accurately document, report and present findings.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills to effectively interface with all levels of employees, management, and outside representatives as well as excellent computer skills.
  • The ability to work independently and lead in a team environment is essential.
  • Ability to work extended hours and travel as required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance is required.

Salary:$125,810 - $229,670
