We currently have an exciting opportunity for an Electrician to join our Facilities Department located in San Diego, California. The position is responsible for performing repair, maintenance, troubleshooting, and installation of electrical systems and equipment.

Under limited supervision, this position is responsible for repairing, maintaining, troubleshooting and
installing electrical systems and equipment such as motors, transformers, wiring, switches, and alarm
systems used for the distribution and utilization of electrical energy in accordance with applicable building
codes and safety regulations. Working from blueprints, drawings, layouts, or other specifications, locates and
determines electrical malfunctions. Tests electrical equipment for safety and efficiency. Inspects circuits and
wiring. Operates, maintains, updates, and repairs the computerized Energy Management Control Systems
and may assist in other facility department operations such as plumbing, carpentry, and painting. May act as
lead and provide direction to less experienced staff.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Repairs, maintains, troubleshoots, and installs electrical systems and equipment such as motors, transformers, wiring, switches, fuses, and alarm systems used for the distribution and utilization of electric energy in accordance with applicable building codes.
  • Repairs electrical problems with building equipment and wiring including air compressors, A/C compressors, boilers, air handlers, machine tools, and pumps. Measures resistance, voltage, and\\ amperage. Measures, cuts, bends, and installs conduit and pulls wire.
  • Performs new construction, layouts, fabrication and wiring of panel and circuit boards including drawing properly sized materials from stock.
  • Installs and maintains access control systems including card readers, gate operators, intercoms, and cameras. Develops circuits for special applications.
  • Operates, maintains, updates, and repairs the computerized Energy Management Control System.
  • Assists in the installation of alarm systems, CCTV monitors, cameras, pan/tilt/zoom controls and in the installation of access control systems.
  • May act as lead and provide direction to less experienced staff.
  • Responsible for observing all laws, regulations, and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company. Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices. Additional Functions Other duties as assigned or required.

Job Qualifications:
  • Typically requires education or formal training equivalent to the completion of a two-year technical degree or trade school equivalency as well as five or more years of progressive experience in operation, repair, and maintenance of electrical equipment Equivalent professional experience may be substituted in lieu of education.
Must possess:
  • A valid California driver's license with a good driving record verified by the DMV;
  • A California electrical Journeyman's license
  • Complete knowledge of building and electrical codes, safety regulations, and local construction industry practices;(3) Complete knowledge and use of electrical hand tools and voltage or amperage measuring and recording
  • devices;
  • The ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, layouts and other mechanical drawings as well as the ability to assess situations and make judgments that will impact the operation of the entire facility.
  • Excellent analytical, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills to accurately document and report information while giving direction to less experienced staff.
  • The ability to work independently and in a team environment is essential as is the ability to work extended hours as required.
