Job Summary General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI), an affiliate of General Atomics, is a world leader in proven, reliable remotely piloted aircraft and tactical reconnaissance radars, as well as advanced high-resolution surveillance systems.

We have an exciting opportunity in San Diego, CA. (Poway, CA) for an Engineering Manager to join the RF/Antenna Engineering group. The successful candidate will lead a small team of talented antenna engineers engaged in the development of antennas and antenna systems supporting a variety of programs. Major areas include functional leadership, mentoring and oversight, process development and enforcement, interfacing with program management and senior leadership.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of antenna engineers and technologists focused on innovative solutions.
  • Collaborate closely with program managers to maintain engineering support of a wide variety of active projects.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement through training, performance management, and cross-departmental collaboration.
  • Develop and refine processes to ensure engineering rigor, design review, and proper documentation.
  • Lead the evaluation of software tools and test equipment.
  • Participate in the development of new business opportunities and expansion of existing business opportunities.
  • Develop proposal content such as technical volumes and cost volumes.
  • Serve as the primary technical liaison with senior management, regulatory bodies, external partners, and suppliers.
  • Present project progress, strategic opportunities, and risk assessments to various stakeholders, ensuring transparent communication and effective decision-making.
  • Perform as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for company-wide antenna-related concerns.
  • Perform as an individual contributor as required.

Job Qualifications:
  • Typically requires a Bachelors, Masters or PhD in engineering or a related technical field as well as eleven or more years of progressively complex engineering experience. May substitute equivalent experience in lieu of education.
  • Must have experience in project leadership and possess the ability to organize, plan, conduct, and coordinate workloads to meet established deadlines.
  • Must have a general understanding of engineering concepts, principles, and theory with technical experience demonstrating the application of those concepts while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Must have a strong understanding of hardware and system level design.
  • Must have proficiency with electromagnetic analysis software such as HFSS, FEKO or CST.
  • Must have familiarity with antenna measurement techniques (anechoic chamber, outdoor range, near field scanners).
  • Must have experience in the design and analysis of a wide variety of antenna types and arrays across a wide range of frequencies, bandwidths, and applications.
  • Must have the ability to manipulate data, perform analysis, and generate data visualization products in MATLAB or Python.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills are required enabling an effective leadership interface with other departments, all levels of management, professional and support staff, customers, potential customers, and government representatives.
  • Must be customer focused and able to work on a self-initiated basis or in a team environment.
  • Must be able to work extended hours and travel as required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance is required. (Active Security Clearance preferred.)

Salary:$125,810 - $229,670
