Job Summary General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI), an affiliate of General Atomics, is a world leader in proven, reliable remotely piloted aircraft and tactical reconnaissance radars, as well as advanced high-resolution surveillance systems.

Under limited supervision, this position is responsible for performing a variety of complex accounting support tasks in an accounting department. Verifies accuracy of accounting documents or records. Updates and maintains accounting journals, ledgers, and other records detailing financial business transactions (e.g., accounts receivable, disbursements, expense vouchers, payrolls, receipts, accounts payable).

Assists with the reporting and analyzing of accounting and financial data for project managers, division directors, and senior management. Reconciles records with employees and management, external vendors, or customers. May reconcile bank and financial statements/reports. Recommends actions to resolve discrepancies and investigates questionable data. Interacts frequently with outside representatives and/or senior level internal contacts.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Performs complex accounting support tasks in an accounting department.
  • Prepares analysis of complex general ledger accounts.
  • Prepares journal vouchers allocating cost to appropriate projects/accounts.
  • Participates in the research and analysis of accounting and financial data.
  • Performs analysis, budgeting, and reporting for assigned projects and/or programs.
  • Ensures compliance with departmental and company policies and procedures.
  • Maintains accounting files and records. Enters data into computer systems using defined computer programs and procedures which may or may not be well established.
  • Compiles data and prepares a variety of complex reports. May present data to professional staff.
  • Makes recommendations to improve current processing methods and techniques.
  • Review and reconcile accounting reports and correct erroneous charges by tracking discrepancies to the source.
  • Responds to written and verbal inquiries from internal and external contacts.
  • May be responsible for aspects of bookkeeping functions.
  • Responsible for observing all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company. Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating practices and procedures. Additional Functions Other duties as assigned or required.

Job Qualifications:
  • Typically requires a high school diploma and six or more years of progressive experience in an accounting department or a related field. May substitute additional experience in lieu of education.
  • Experience in Travel accounting preferred.
  • Must have strong knowledge of computer operations and applications and proficiency with spreadsheets.
  • Must possess the ability to understand new concepts quickly; organize, schedule, and coordinate work phases; and, determine the appropriate approach at the task level or, with assistance, at the project level to provide solutions to a range of difficult problems.
  • Must have good communication, computer, documentation and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to work independently and as part of a team and capable of effectively interacting with professional staff. Able to work extended hours as required.

Salary:$56,180 - $83,518
