Job Summary General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI), an affiliate of General Atomics, is a world leader in proven, reliable remotely piloted aircraft and tactical reconnaissance radars, as well as advanced high-resolution surveillance systems.

We have an exciting opportunity as an Accountant in our Labor Accounting group.
Under general supervision, this position performs detailed accounting reconciliations between companies. This position will work on problems of a moderate to complex scope where analysis of data requires advanced Excel skills and a high level of critical thinking. In addition, this role offers the opportunity to collaborate with a high-performing team known for its exceptional morale and dedication to teamwork in achieving goals.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Preparing reconciliations of intercompany transactions on a weekly and monthly basis
  • Preparing analysis of complex labor and payroll transactions
  • Contributing to and ensuring the accuracy of accounting data as it relates to labor transactions
  • Participating in weekly labor processing, error reporting and bi-weekly analysis of labor
  • Participating in the review of department operations in light of internal controls to promote compliance with applicable regulations
  • Conducting financial analysis using Excel and SAP in support of compliance efforts
  • Performing detailed and sometimes complex ad-hoc analysis of labor and payroll data requiring analytical thinking and problem-solving
  • Communicating accounting policies and procedures internally and acting as an external department representative
  • Ensuring proper documentation in accordance with external requirements
  • Maintaining strict confidentiality of sensitive information
  • Demonstrating the ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment
  • Managing several projects simultaneously while working to meet deadlines
  • Assisting in evaluating, developing, implementing and monitoring appropriate control procedures which safeguard the Company’s assets and assures compliance with policies
  • Being well-organized and capable of working in a fast-paced environment that is deadline driven
  • Effectively cross training to assist other duties in the department as needed
  • Gaining knowledge of labor laws, payroll and Government FAR Compliance is beneficial

Job Qualifications:
  • Typically requires a bachelor's or master's degree in accounting, finance or related discipline along with six or more years of progressive experience in accounting with a bachelor's degree or four or more years of experience with a master's degree. Equivalent professional experience may be substituted in lieu of education.
  • Must demonstrate a complete understanding of accounting theories, concepts and principles, as well as a thorough understanding of generally accepted accounting principles, cost accounting standards, and FAR. Must possess leadership skills including organizing, scheduling, and coordinating work assignments to meet project milestones or established completion dates.
  • Must be customer focused and possess:
    • The ability to identify issues, analyze and interpret data and develop solutions to a variety of complex problems.
    • Excellent analytical, verbal and written communication skills to accurately document, report, and present findings.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills to influence and guide all levels of employees, including management.
    • The ability to represent the company as a knowledgeable resource on external projects
    • Excellent computer skills.
    • Ability to work independently or in a team environment is essential.

Salary:$73,700 - $128,780
