Job Summary General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI), an affiliate of General Atomics, is a world leader in proven, reliable remotely piloted aircraft and tactical reconnaissance radars, as well as advanced high-resolution surveillance systems.
We have an exciting opportunity for an Electrical Engineer to join our team at the Palmdale Flight Test Facility.
Under general supervision and with on-going review, this position supports the engineering staff in the analysis, investigation, and resolution of engineering problems of moderate scope and complexity. Assignments are for small projects or phase(s) of larger projects(s) and are normally outlined in terms of specific engineering activities. Engineering tasks involve the exercise of independent judgment and discretion about matters of significance. Documents findings and implemented solutions and communicates results to engineering staff. Contacts are primarily internal with infrequent inter-organization or customer contact.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Applies technical knowledge to analyze, investigate, and resolve assigned engineering problems.
- Designs, develops, troubleshoots, repairs, and supports maintenance of electrical systems and equipment.
- Obtains and analyzes test data.
- Develops appropriate documentation of findings and implemented solutions. May be required to make technical presentations.
- May provide direction to other engineering and/or technical staff.
- Communicates engineering, manufacturing, and quality requirements in accordance with drawings and technical subject matter.
- Supports the production floor to:
- Provide evaluation and disposition for non-conformances, including root cause analysis as well as participating in the corrective and preventative action process.
- Provide new or improved tooling, equipment, processes/documentation, and training needed to produce quality parts.
- Prepares recommendations for capital expenditures in support of manufacturing or test process improvements.
- Acts as a consultant and advisor in electrical engineering topics.
- Keeps management informed of product performance, quality status, risks, and customer concerns. Passes information up and down the management chain efficiently and effectively.
- Performs other duties as assigned and works in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.
- Responsible for observing all laws, regulations, and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.

Job Qualifications:
- Typically requires a bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and two or more years of engineering experience. May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education.
- Must have a good understanding of electrical engineering concepts, principles, and theory with technical experience demonstrating the application of those concepts, while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.
- Must possess the ability to understand new concepts quickly and apply them accurately throughout an evolving environment and organize work assignments to meet established timelines.
- Requires good communication, computer, documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain DoD Security Clearance.
- Reading and creating electrical wiring diagrams.
- Use of electronic test equipment, oscilloscopes, hand and soldering tools, voltage/amperage measuring and recording devices.
- Experience in a Manufacturing/Liaison Engineering environment supporting multiple internal and external groups, problem investigation/resolution, and multi-disciplinary technical guidance.
- IPC Certification
- LabVIEW programming experience
