Job Summary General Atomics (GA), and its affiliated companies, is one of the world’s leading resources for high-technology systems development ranging from the nuclear fuel cycle to remotely piloted aircraft, airborne sensors, and advanced electric, electronic, wireless and laser technologies.
We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Technical Department Specialist in our Energy division to perform a variety of activities, with a focus on inventory and component inspection, in support of the Target Fabrication Group at LLNL in Livermore, CA.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Uses multiple inventory sources to collect, record, track, and verify information
- Reviews and monitors target work orders and BOMs. Identifies common inventory to be transferred to projects and kits for production assembly
- Coordinates transfer of components between work centers. Performs pick-up and deliveries as required
- Transport and delivery to and from offsite vendors. Also, conducts the processing and documentation of items being returned to vendor
- Coordinates with production planning and target fabrication engineers to ensure appropriate routing, scheduling, and storing of special material components
- Responsible for the accurate labeling and storing of inventory for both new incoming and returning items.
- May assist in determining stock level replenishment requirements for Kanban locations on the production floor as well as procurement of low stock items
- May generate component machining and coating requests from onsite shops utilizing internal database request tool
- Compiles inventory reports using appropriate computer system(s) or hard copy documents.
- Maintains input to inventory systems. Reviews and analyzes requirements and inventory levels, tracks shortages and generates reports as required
- Participates in resolution of inventory discrepancies
- Assists with investigations and analysis of inventory activities
- Assists in the analysis and resolution of obsolete and excess inventory
- Operates microscopes and associated software to provide dimensional inspection data on meso-scale components
- Handles and inspects “high value” and extremely fragile components
- Coordinates, tracks, and reports progress of work assignments
- Provides data and information on requests from co-workers, customers, and other authorized parties
- May prepare requested electronic and hard copy reports and presentations
- Responds to routine verbal and written requests for information from internal sources
- Performs other duties as assigned or required

Job Qualifications:
- Typically requires a high school diploma or equivalent and four or more years experience in a field related to the specialized functional area or unit where assigned. Additional education may be substituted in lieu of experience
- A valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record, as determined by company policy, are required to operate company vehicles
- Must have a detailed understanding of inventory planning and control concepts and principles
- Must be customer focused and possess strong organizational skills to maintain flow of work within the unit
- General knowledge of computer operations, applications, word processing, and spreadsheets.
- Must have analytical ability to read and understand detailed instructions, mechanical drawings, and specifications
- Must have excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written skills to interface with all levels of internal employees and be able to accurately document and record precise information.
- Communication skills necessary to explain technical information and respond to routine issues or situations and maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information
- Performs tasks in a class 100 cleanroom requiring long periods of standing, walking, bending, and lifting up to 25 lbs.
- The ability to work both independently and in a team environment is essential as is the ability to work extended hours as required
- General knowledge of and the ability to use stereo microscopes and small hand tools preferred.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q Security Clearance
- US Citizenship required
