GA-EMS offers modular and scalable satellite platforms backed with a history of operational flight experience to support defense, civil, commercial, and academic mission requirements.

We have an exciting opportunity available within our Mechanical Engineering Team working with satellite technology development. We are looking for an experienced Spacecraft Mechanical Engineer with prior experience in dealing with military and space systems to support our team out of Englewood, CO.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Developing engineering solutions that require creative designs, detailed analysis, investigation, and resolution of routine engineering problems.
  • Experience with design, analysis, drafting, build and test of advanced space hardware. Apply statistical methods and perform mathematical calculations to determine manufacturing processes.
  • Responsible for development of design specifications, CAD models, and technical drawings to identify potential conflicts early in the design process.
  • Develop and maintain integration plans, schedules, and milestones to track progress to ensure on budget and timely completion of design integration tasks.
  • Conduct design reviews and provide feedback on design concepts, proposing solutions to optimize integration efficiency. Provides practical solutions and insight to problems involving integration and design.
  • Coordinate procurement of components and materials required for integration with GA-EMS internal machine shop and external vendors.
  • Leads or performs detailed tolerance stack up analysis and geometric and dimensional tolerancing (GD&T) to ensure proper fit and alignment of components.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including electrical, software, test and systems engineering, to ensure seamless system integration and compatibility.
  • Determines technical objectives and develop innovative, practical solutions to advanced technical engineering problems.
  • Addresses complex and difficult technical issues requiring highly creative approaches, drawing on advanced engineering concepts.
  • Will work on space systems, high energy lasers, electro-optical systems, and other various systems.
  • Hands-on work environment and high level of interaction with system components. Oversee prototype builds and implement lessons learned into design.
  • Able to balance several mechanical design projects while tracking design/release schedule and cost

Job Qualifications:
  • Typically requires a bachelors degree, masters degree or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and progressive engineering experience as follows; four or more years of experience with a bachelors degree or two or more years of experience with a masters degree. May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education.
  • Demonstrates an extensive technical expertise and application of engineering principles, concepts, theory, and practice with the ability to organize, plan, schedule, conduct, and coordinate workloads to meet established deadlines or milestones with some experience in project leadership.
  • Strong experience and understanding in applying GD&T
  • Must possess the ability to understand new concepts quickly and apply them accurately throughout an evolving environment.
  • Must have prior experience in space domain and satellite segment design.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills are required enabling an effective interface with other departments and/or professionals, and capable of representing the organization as a prime technical contact, as well as providing leadership and guidance to less experienced professionals.
  • Customer focused, formulates plans based on the development of innovative new designs in resolving advanced technical engineering problems.
  • Must be able to work both independently and in a team environment.
  • Must have a thorough understanding of engineering concepts, principles, codes, and theory; experience demonstrating a broad application of those concepts; and expanding knowledge of principles, concepts, theory, and practices in related technical specialties.
  • Must possess the ability to develop and communicate new concepts; apply them accurately throughout an evolving environment; organize, schedule, and coordinate work phases; and determine the appropriate approach at the task level or, with assistance, at the project level to provide solutions to a range of complex problems.
  • Candidate must have real world experience with structural design, drafting, and modeling for space vehicles
  • Exposure to laboratory environment preferred, including materials characterization, materials testing, vibration testing, and failure analysis.
  • Experience with analyses including fluid dynamics, heat transfer, structural mechanics and dynamics desired.
  • Previous experience with space systems, launch environments, optical systems is desired.
  • Experience with CAD software such as SolidWorks, FEA software ANSYS, NASTRAN, FEMAP is required.
  • Experience with MATLAB is helpful
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD TS-SCI security clearance is required, an active and current TS/SCI clearance is desired.

Salary:$81,080 - $141,650
