Job Summary
General Atomics – Integrated Intelligence Inc. (GA-i3) will be opening an office in/near Research Triangle Park (RTP), NC in 2025. GA-i3 is looking for a Software Engineer to join our Federal team, shaping the future of situational awareness capabilities for our customers. Our system handles billions of records daily and houses petabytes of historical information, enabling rich and impactful analytics, giving users the ability to track the most relevant information in real time or dive into detailed history. Initially, this role will be hybrid work from home and in-person at co-working spaces while we establish our office in/near RTP, NC. We are an in-person and collaborative culture, which means this role will eventually be primarily on-site at our future office in/near RTP, NC. Our hybrid policy allows for up to one day of WFH per week, with a minimum of 32 hours on-site, with core hours set by individual teams. We are looking for dedicated, team-oriented engineers who are willing to learn and join the team!
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Research, design, implement, document, test, and deploy software applications for enterprise-wide end-user, system level, and data management software applications. Formulate plans and guide implementation of software solutions including language, coding, platform, resource requirements, testing, and documentation.
- Collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders to develop robust solutions to challenging problems.
- Understand customer, user, and operational requirements and implement new functionality into software products.
- Document and communicate highly technical concepts effectively to technical and non-technical audiences in a clear and effective manner
- Review code contributions using software engineering best practices for readability, maintainability, testing, security, performance, etc.
- Mentor and learn from teammates through knowledge-sharing, pair programming, mob programming, and code review.
- Contribute towards the continuous integration and improvement of enterprise solutions including build pipeline support, debugging, maintenance, and updates to ensure viability in an evolving environment.
- Maintain the strict confidentiality of sensitive information.

Job Qualifications:
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance with SCI eligibility, and willing to take a CI polygraph.
- Typically requires a bachelors or masters degree in computer science, information systems or related discipline and two or more years progressive software development experience with a bachelors degree. May substitute equivalent experience in lieu of education.
- Must have a general understanding of software development concepts, principles, and theory and demonstrate the ability to apply programming and analysis concepts.
- Must possess the ability to understand new concepts quickly and apply them accurately throughout an evolving environment while organizing work assignments to meet established timetables.
- Strong communication, computer, and interpersonal skills are required to enable an effective interface with other professionals, produce appropriate documentation, and present results to an internal audience.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team is essential.
- Experience with a variety of programming languages (Java, Scala, Python, and Golang).
- Experience with deployment technologies, such as Kubernetes (K8s) for container orchestration.
- Experience with containerization technology (Docker).
- Understanding of AWS services and cloud environments.
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and tooling (Gitlab CI/CD, ArgoCD, CircleCI, Jenkins).
- Ability to design and develop RESTful APIs.
- An understanding of formal software engineering principles including design, MRs, documentation, ticketing systems, version control and Agile methodologies.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts and present findings to stakeholders.
- Experience mentoring junior engineers.
- Must be able to work extended hours as required.
DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
An ideal candidate will have:
- CompTIA Security+ certification or willingness to get certified
- An interest in geospatial data and analytics
- Experience with AWS infrastructure and tooling
- Knowledge of database technologies (e.g., PostgreSQL or other relational databases)
- Experience with cloud technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, HBase, Accumulo, Storm
- Experience with deployment technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, Knative, Helm, Rancher
- Experience with DevOps concepts
- Experience with sensor technologies and data acquisition systems used in tracking applications, such as radar, lidar, GPS, or cameras.
- Experience with data fusion and data engineering tools.
- Ability to leverage filtering algorithms, such as Kalman filters and Interacting Multiple Model (IMM) filters.
- Knowledge of machine learning and deep learning techniques for enhancing tracking capabilities, such as object detection and classification.
