This position typically reports to a senior manager and is responsible for training, managing, and the technical performance of employees involved in the installation, operation, maintenance servicing, repair, and modification of aircraft, GCSs, and GDTs to ensure that all equipment is in good mechanical condition and safe for flight. Manages teams that coordinate scheduled maintenance, repairs, inspections, and verifies approvals are in place to release aircraft for flight. Directs all phases of product implementation, modifications, and enhancements in accordance with specific customer specifications and company policy and practices. Identifies and assesses operational issues and consults with management to negotiate and develop solutions which meet planning schedules, quality objectives, and policies and procedures of the organization. Determines customer requirements and translates these requirements into organizational plans. Typically accomplishes objectives through subordinate management and may have responsibility for off-site operations and subordinate supervisors. May be responsible for decisions that impact outcomes where erroneous decisions could cause serious schedule delays and expenditure of additional time and resources.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Manages the development and coordination of operational plans and maintenance schedules as well as directs the coordination of all operational aspects for airport maintenance teams.
  • Guides efforts to develop and improve operations through efficient and effective integrated processes, implementing common management processes/services to use organizational resources efficiently and effectively.
  • Serves as liaison between program/project management, project teams, production planning, test planning, flight operations, aircrew, military customers, DCMA and operations manager on matters of high importance.
  • Develops and coordinates operating procedures that are aligned with the strategic business and administrative objectives of the organization.
  • Provides guidance and training to subordinates, technicians, and customers in establishing operation, maintenance, and inspection procedures and techniques.
  • Oversees development and implementation of preventive maintenance programs, organizational performance, and accuracy of maintenance records on equipment.
  • Coordinates logistics requirements, including but not limited to, parts shipments to and from site location.
  • Participates in the planning, attraction, selection, retention, and development of human resources to ensure the availability of the required technical talent.
  • Responsible for ensuring all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations are observed wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company and maintains strict confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Responsible for ensuring work is accomplished in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices. Additional Functions Other duties as assigned or required.

Job Qualifications:
  • Typically requires a Bachelors or Masters in business administration, finance, or a related field, along with eleven or more years of progressive project administration experience with at least five of the years managing those operations in an engineering or scientific environment. May substitute equivalent experience in lieu of education.
  • Has a thorough in-depth understanding of the practices and procedures of aviation maintenance as well as comprehensive leadership skills including organizing, planning, scheduling, and coordinating workloads to meet established deadlines or milestones.
  • Strong leadership, communications, presentation, and interpersonal skills are also required as well as the ability to interpret and explain unusually complex operational issues. Must possess the ability to resolve moderately complex supervisory and technical problems and serve as on-site spokesperson.
  • Good communication, leadership, presentation, and interpersonal skills are required to enable an effective interface with others.
  • Customer focused, must be able to work on a self-initiated basis and in a team environment, and able to work extended hours and travel as required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance is required.
  • Highly Desirable: Fifteen or more years of progressive technical experience in aviation maintenance, with a least ten years military aviation management experience.
