Job Summary General Atomics (GA), and its affiliated companies, is one of the world’s leading resources for high-technology systems development ranging from the nuclear fuel cycle to remotely piloted aircraft, airborne sensors, and advanced electric, electronic, wireless and laser technologies.

General Atomics Electromagnetic Systems (GA-EMS) designs and manufactures first-of-a-kind electromagnetic and electric power generation systems. GA-EMS’ expanding portfolio of specialized products and integrated system solutions support critical fleet, space systems and satellites, missile defense, power and energy, and process and monitoring applications for defense, industrial, and commercial customers worldwide.

We are currently hiring a Software Engineer for the GA-EMS Radar Technologies Directorate. In this capacity, the Software Engineer will be responsible for developing Radar application software targeted for a Linux environment. The Software Engineer will report to the Senior Manager of Software Engineering within the Radar Technologies Directorate. This is a hybrid role that requires an in-office presence based on project needs, including lab integration and in-person collaboration meetings.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBLITIES:
  • Design and implement new software applications using C++ and Python.
  • Build, deploy, and manage containerized applications
  • Contribute to and maintain CI/CD pipelines to ensure reliable, repeatable software delivery.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define system architecture and requirements.
  • Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex software issues and performance problems.
  • Participate in design and code reviews and contribute to improving engineering standards.

Job Qualifications:
  • Typically requires a bachelors or masters degree in computer science, information systems or related discipline and two or more years progressive software development experience with a bachelors degree. May substitute equivalent experience in lieu of education
  • Proficiency in C++ or a comparable language (e.g., Rust, Go, C).
  • Solid understanding of object-oriented design and system-level programming.
  • Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git).
  • Familiarity with DevOps and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: 
  • Experience building, deploying, and managing containerized applications using Docker or similar technologies.
  • Web based user interface experience
  • Familiarity with Linux-based development environments.
  • Knowledge of networking, IPC, or hardware-software integration.
  • Experience with real-time application development
  • Exposure to unit testing frameworks and agile methodologies.
  • Experience using AI to assist with software development tasks
  • Active Secret Clearance

Salary:$73,700 - $128,780
