Job Summary General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI), an affiliate of General Atomics, is a world leader in proven, reliable remotely piloted aircraft and tactical reconnaissance radars, as well as advanced high-resolution surveillance systems.

We have an exciting opportunity for a LO Materials and Processes Engineer to support the development and hardware fabrication for advanced Low Observable platforms at General Atomics-ASI. This engineering position supports the application of specialty materials and their transition to production for advanced aircraft applications as a member of the Advanced Aircraft Engineering (AAE) organization. In the LO M&P Engineering capacity, you will be a part of a team that focuses on the application of LO Materials on platforms from prototype through production. This individual will work across multiple disciplines to ensure these advanced platforms meet design requirements, and will be responsible for ensuring results meet expectations.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Lead process development activities through a demonstrated knowledge of productionizing materials and processing techniques to support objectives of new programs.
  • Support new business development and proposal activities.
  • Utilize process simulation tools to develop new or optimized materials and processes.
  • Develop material and process specifications through collaboration with GA-ASI Designers, Manufacturing and Vendors to guide appropriate material selection and application/installation techniques by drawing from military standards, industry standards and material engineering and processing experience.
  • Participate in related failure investigations to determine root cause and corrective actions by the inspection, analysis and testing of manufacturing and application techniques and methodologies.
  • Support Continuous Improvement initiatives and provide support to sustaining manufacturing of production hardware to improve the quality and reduce cost of production.
  • Maintain the strict confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Responsible for observing all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.
  • Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.

Job Qualifications:
  • Typically requires a bachelors degree, masters degree or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and progressive engineering experience as follows; nine or more years of experience with a bachelors degree, seven or more years of experience with a masters degree, or four or more years with a PhD. May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education.
  • Must have strong communication, computer, documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team; able to perform complex tasks in one or more engineering areas; capable of representing the organization as a prime technical contact.
  • Good understanding of coatings, adhesives, composite lamination and metallic bonding and the methods of manufacture/installation of these.
  • Experience with transition of materials and processes from R&D into production.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain DoD Security Clearance required.

Salary:$105,890 - $189,545
