We have an exciting opportunity for a Transportation Supervisor to join our Fleet Services Team in Poway, CA!

This position is responsible for the daily operation of transportation services, which includes delivery of larger packages, moves, and the purchase and installation of furniture. Plans and directs the activities of the group to ensure smooth flow of work and continuous operation.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Coordinates and monitors the daily operation of the transportation unit to ensure efficient processing, documentation, delivery of packages, and express mail from point of origin through final placement.
  • Ensures the delivery and pickup service requests are scheduled efficiently, including office furniture and equipment moves.
  • Responsible for the transportation fleet (trucks, cars, forklifts, etc.) including purchasing, leasing, maintenance, service, and registration of company owned vehicles.
  • May be responsible for identifying, tracking, and selling surplus office furniture and equipment.
  • Identify and recommend process improvements to optimize the performance of the transportation area.
  • Identify and resolve delivery and scheduling problems through timely communication with drivers and customers.
  • Assigns tasks, reviews work, and provides direction to staff while ensuring business objectives are met.
  • Participates in the planning, attraction, selection, retention and development of human resources to ensure the availability of the required talent.
  • Responsible for ensuring all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations are observed wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.
  • Responsible for ensuring work is accomplished in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.
  • Prepare monthly status report and other reports or documentation as required.

Job Qualifications:
  • Typically requires an associate's degree or two-year technical or trade school certification and six or more years of progressive experience in transportation services. Equivalent professional experience may be substituted in lieu of education.
  • Proven experience managing DOT, FMCSA, and DMV affairs, including cargo permits, vehicle insurance, and hazardous materials permits.
  • Knowledge and experience with California CARB regulations, such as TRUCRS, DOORS, and PERP compliance.
  • Expertise in managing vehicle and equipment tracking and maintenance systems for fleets of 200+ vehicles.
  • Experience supervising transportation personnel: assigning tasks, monitoring performance, and managing workloads.
  • Skilled in administering service contracts for vehicle and equipment maintenance and repairs.
  • Ability to manage fleet cost, maintenance, and progress: prepare detailed monthly reports on expenses, performance, and KPIs. Experience assisting in software implementation and collaborating with other departments.
  • Must have a valid California driver's license and a good driving record verified by the Department of Motor Vehicles.

    • strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills to interface with others
    • the ability to analyze and use judgment in resolving moderately complex issues and problems
    • strong knowledge of computer operations and applications including word processing, spreadsheets, and specialized facilities software.
  • Ability to work both independently and lead in a team environment is essential as well as the ability to work extended hours as required.
