General Atomics Electromagnetic Systems (GA-EMS) designs and manufactures first-of-a-kind electromagnetic and electric power generation systems. GA-EMS' expanding portfolio of specialized products and integrated system solutions support critical fleet, space systems and satellites, missile defense, power and energy, and process and monitoring applications for defense, industrial, and commercial customers worldwide.
Under limited supervision, the Reliability & Maintenance Planner is responsible for improving equipment performance and asset reliability through proactive maintenance planning and reliability engineering practices. This role ensures maintenance activities are well-planned, resourced, and executed while driving long-term strategies to reduce failures, minimize downtime, and optimize lifecycle costs.
The Planner operates from our offices in Rancho Bernardo, CA, but will support facilities throughout the US requiring occasional travel.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop, schedule, and optimize preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities to maximize equipment uptime.
- Apply reliability engineering tools (RCM, FMEA, RCA, Weibull analysis) to identify failure modes and implement mitigation strategies.
- Lead and support Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) investigations, ensuring corrective actions are implemented and sustained.
- Build and maintain CMMS job plans, including task lists, labor, materials, permits, tools, and safety requirements.
- Monitor asset performance and reliability KPIs (MTBF, MTTR, OEE) to identify trends, chronic issues, and improvement opportunities.
- Integrate condition-based monitoring technologies (vibration, thermography, oil analysis, etc.) into maintenance strategies.
- Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams to prioritize work based on criticality and risk.
- Partner with supply chain to align spare parts inventory with asset criticality and maintenance needs.
- Support capital project design reviews to ensure maintainability and reliability requirements are met.
- Standardize and continuously improve maintenance and reliability processes in alignment with safety and compliance requirements.
- Maintains strict confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Responsible for observing all laws, regulations, and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.

Job Qualifications:
- Typically requires a bachelors degree in a related discipline and six or more years of progressive professional maintenance planning. Equivalent professional experience may be substituted in lieu of education.
- Certifications such as CMRP, CRE, or CRL preferred.
- Five or more years in maintenance planning, reliability engineering, or asset management preferred.
- Strong knowledge of reliability engineering principles (RCM, FMEA, RCA, PdM).
- Experience with CMMS/EAM systems (Maximo, SAP, Infor, etc.).
- Experience with cloud-based workflow automation platforms (ServiceNow preferred).
- Solid understanding of mechanical, electrical, and control systems (Trane Tracer preferred).
- Proficiency in analyzing maintenance and reliability data, with ability to turn insights into actionable plans.
- Must demonstrate a complete understanding of appropriate regulations covering maintenance/reconfiguration as well as a complete understanding and experience of one or more of the following: developing SOW's, reviewing and understanding contracts, reviewing project costs, purchasing, and material management.
- Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills, with experience in planning, scheduling, and coordinating work assignments to meet project milestones or deadlines.
- Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively within cross-functional teams while managing time effectively in a dynamic environment.
- Quick learner with the ability to adapt to new concepts and contribute to process development, maintaining a customer-focused approach.
- Physical Requirements:
- Walking long distances and standing for extended periods.
- Surveying roofs and working at heights, including climbing ladders.
- Frequent bending, kneeling, and twisting.
- Ability to travel as needed.
- Ability to obtain and maintain DoD Security clearance is required.
Salary:$68,770 - $116,193
