Job Summary General Atomics (GA), and its affiliated companies, is one of the world’s leading resources for high-technology systems development ranging from the nuclear fuel cycle to remotely piloted aircraft, airborne sensors, and advanced electric, electronic, wireless and laser technologies.

Under close supervision with detailed instructions on work activities, this position is responsible for utilizing desktop publishing and software systems to produce, revise, and format publication materials such as technical articles, proposals, publications, books, manuals, reports, and marketing materials. Assists in determining project requirements and presents drafts of finished product to user.

Ensures there is high quality of output and compatibility of product with follow-on reproduction processes. May assist with designing layouts, coordinating editorial illustrations, and creative artwork for publications. May maintain production logs and cost data for project scheduling, budgeting, and billing. Collaborates with editors and authors to ensure compliance with customer proposal format requirements.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Formats, produces, and revises technical documents, proposals, presentations, reports, scientific journal articles, and marketing materials from handwritten and electronic documents.
  • Prepares and proofs graphics for integration into desktop publication programs.
  • May create full color viewgraphs and posters.
  • Edits material for spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
  • Maintains electronic and physical files for all publication material.
  • Maintains up to date desktop publishing skills including integrating text and graphics and publishing on the web.
  • May provide input on reproduction and printing processes through in- house resources or outside vendors.
  • Contacts are typically with individuals within own department.
  • Maintains the strict confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Responsible for observing all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company. Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating practices and procedures.

Job Qualifications:
  • Typically requires a high school diploma.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to use a PC or MAC computer to transcribe text, tables, figures, and forms and have an understanding of applicable software such as MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Adobe Photoshop, Quark Press, and Adobe Illustrator.
Must be able to:
  • Organize, schedule, meet established timelines, and coordinate multiple work phases;
  • Determine the appropriate approach at the task level;
  • Provide solutions to a variety of publishing/word processing problems;
  • Communicate with all levels of professional staff, including management;
  • Interpret and explain moderately complex information; and,
  • Establish priorities. Must be able to work independently or as part of a team. Able to work extended hours as required.

Salary:$38,230 - $56,838
