Job Summary General Atomics (GA), and its affiliated companies, is one of the world’s leading resources for high-technology systems development ranging from the nuclear fuel cycle to remotely piloted aircraft, airborne sensors, and advanced electric, electronic, wireless and laser technologies.

General Atomics Electromagnetic Systems (GA-EMS) designs and manufactures first-of-a-kind electromagnetic and electric power generation systems. GA-EMS’ expanding portfolio of specialized products and integrated system solutions support critical fleet, space systems and satellites, missile defense, power and energy, and process and monitoring applications for defense, industrial, and commercial customers worldwide.

This position, reporting into Business Management, part of the office of Chief Operating Officer, is responsible for the planning, budgeting, and scheduling as well as the coordination of operational aspects for an organization to ensure business and financial objectives are attained. Translates business priorities into implementable actions to achieve strategic goals. Identifies and assesses operational issues and consults with management to develop and implement solutions which meet planning schedules, quality objectives, and policies and procedures of the organization. Determines customer requirements and translates these requirements into organizational plans. May be responsible for decisions that impact the unit where erroneous recommendations could cause schedule delays and allocation of additional resources.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Manage the development and coordination of operational plans, budgets, and schedules as well as manage the coordination of operational aspects for an organization.
  • Guide efforts to develop and improve operations through efficient and effective integrated processes, implementing common management processes/services to use organizational resources efficiently and effectively.
  • Serve as liaison between program/project management, project teams and administrative service departments on matters of importance.
  • Develop and coordinate operating procedures that are aligned with the strategic business and administrative objectives of the organization.
  • Conduct operational reviews of cost and service structures, productivity measures and delivery methods to achieve planned targets.
  • Develop mechanisms for monitoring progress and for problem solving with program managers, project teams, and administrative services departments while developing solutions to meet budget, schedule, quality objectives, and company policies and procedures.
  • Manage and participate in the recruitment, retention, and development of human resources to ensure the availability of the required management and professional talent needed to meet business objectives and organizational requirements.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Responsible for ensuring all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations are observed wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.
  • Responsible for ensuring work is accomplished in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.
  • Additional Functions Other duties as assigned or required.

Job Qualifications:
  • Typically requires a Bachelors or Masters in business administration, finance, or a related field, along with eleven or more years of progressive administration, financial analyses and high-visibility presentation experience with at least five of the years in a defense industry program support functions.
  • Must demonstrate detailed expertise in data analytics, report creation, articulation of analysis and budget setting and performance measurements
  • Experience in organizational and operational problem resolution is required.
  • Strong leadership, communications, presentation, and interpersonal skills are also required as well as the ability to interpret and explain complex operational issues.
  • Ability to articulate, influence and infer is a must.
  • Must be able to thrive in an ambiguous, changeable and complex environment with the ability to reprioritize constantly and improvise as needed to support the customers’ needs that include senior leadership and program management.
  • Customer focused, must be able to work on a self-initiated basis and in a team environment.
  • Must also be able to work extended hours and travel as required.
