Job Summary General Atomics (GA), and its affiliated companies, is one of the world’s leading resources for high-technology systems development ranging from the nuclear fuel cycle to remotely piloted aircraft, airborne sensors, and advanced electric, electronic, wireless and laser technologies.

We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Accountant who will assist in ensuring compliance with all applicable financial regulations and supporting General Atomics and affiliated companies including our international growth strategy.

This position will play a critical role in supporting the financial operations of the company’s operations, including but not limited to international markets. This mid-level position involves managing financial records, compliance, and reporting across the entity and for international subsidiaries and/or projects. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including finance, operations, compliance departments, and third-party service providers to ensure accurate financial reporting, compliance with local and international tax laws, and optimal financial performance across domestic and global markets.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Accounting Support:
    • Assist in consolidating financial data from multiple locations, subsidiaries, joint ventures, and other foreign entities.
    • Support the senior accounting team with the preparation of consolidated financial statements.
    • Ensure accurate intercompany accounting and reconciliation of a variety of transactions.
    • Ensures accounting files and records are accurate and up to date.
    • Record journal entries and support other month-end processes.
    • Coordinate and participate in the research and analysis of accounting and financial data.
  2. Account Reconciliation & Auditing:
    • Perform regular account reconciliations for transactions, reviewing balance sheet accounts, and identifying discrepancies.
    • Assist in the preparation and review of audit schedules ensuring accuracy and completeness.
    • Work with external auditors and tax advisors (external and internal) to assist with audits and tax filings, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
  3. ERP Systems & Financial Data Management:
    • Work with global accounting systems (e.g., SAP, Ramco, SAGE, or similar) to ensure accurate data entry, reporting, and system configuration for operations, including, but not limited to, those in foreign countries.
    • Monitor the accuracy of foreign exchange and translation processes in the company’s financial systems.
  4. Collaboration with International Teams:
    • Willingness to serve as a key day-to-day point of contact for finance, HR, payroll teams, etc., providing guidance and support in accounting and reporting issues.
    • Liaise with legal, operational, and compliance teams to ensure alignment between financial reporting and local laws/regulations.
  5. Process Improvement:
    • Continuously assess and recommend improvements to accounting processes and systems to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and compliance.
  6. Additional Duties:
    • Performs special projects, as assigned.

Job Qualifications:
  • Typically requires a bachelor's or master's degree in accounting, finance or related discipline along with six or more years of progressive experience in accounting with a bachelor's degree or four or more years of experience with a master's degree. Equivalent professional experience may be substituted in lieu of education.
  • Master's degree or CPA preferred.
  • 6 or more years of progressive experience in accounting with international or multinational companies a plus.
  • Proven experience in a dynamic accounting department.
  • Experience in the defense, aerospace, or government contracting industry is a plus.
  • Skills and Abilities:
    • Strong attention to detail with the ability to work efficiently under tight deadlines.
    • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and adjusting to changing regulations and business needs.
    • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
    • Understanding of foreign currency exchange and its impact on financial reporting.
    • Advanced proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems; experience with SAP is preferred.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with senior leadership, external auditors, third-party service providers and international teams.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Ability to work extended hours, as required.
    • Ability to travel, as required (0-5% expected).
    • Must be able to organize, schedule and coordinate work assignments to meet deadlines.
    • Must be customer service focused.
