We have a program management office opening for an Engineer to join our GA-EMS Electromagnetic Aircraft Launch System (EMALS) and Advanced Arresting Gear (AAG) team in Rancho Bernardo. This position is responsible for managing and coordinating the daily operational aspects of one or more projects and serves as the liaison between project management and the engineering teams, planning, and line management to present and exchange information. Continually reviews status of the project including technical, schedule, and cost/budget; manages schedules and develops appropriate reports to document progress of the project. The candidate will evaluate, interpret and resolve engineering problems to meet production, quality, and customer-satisfaction goals and objectives.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Evaluate, interpret and resolve engineering problems to meet design, schedule, and budget requirements.
  • Develops innovative but practical solutions to advance technical problems in engineering.
  • Assist with development of project plan and manage resources to ensure project schedule, budget, quality, and specification goals are attained.
  • Monitor project schedule, timeline, and milestones from initiation to delivery to meet delivery goals.
  • Coordinate departmental and/or cross-functional teams to assign and prioritize tasks focused on delivering new or upgrading existing products and/or services.
  • Participate in the request for proposal (RFP) process to generate new business.
  • This includes creating or reviewing basis of estimates, reviewing statements of work, supporting the creation of execution schedules, and supporting on-time delivery of proposals.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental and other regulations.
  • Identify and assess project issues and develop recommendations for solutions to meet productivity, quality and customer satisfaction goals and objectives.
  • Maintain the strict confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Responsible for ensuring all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations are observed wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.
  • Responsible for ensuring work is accomplished in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.

Job Qualifications:
  • Typically requires a bachelors or masters degree in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and two or more years of engineering experience with a bachelors degree. May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education.
  • Must have a general understanding of engineering concepts, principles, and theory with technical experience demonstrating the application of those concepts while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Must possess the ability to understand new concepts quickly and apply them accurately throughout an evolving environment and organize work assignments to meet established timetables.
  • Good communication, computer, documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills are required
  • Customer focused, must be able to work on a self-initiated basis and in a team environment, and able to work extended hours and travel as required.
  • Ability to organize, schedule, and coordinate workloads to meet established milestones and budgets.
  • Experience with Microsoft tools suite (word, outlook, project, teams, excel, etc)
  • Experience with Earned Value Management preferred but not required
  • Military or Department of Defense project management experience preferred but not required
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance is required
