Job Summary
General Atomics (GA), and its affiliated companies, is one of the world’s leading resources for high-technology systems development ranging from the nuclear fuel cycle to remotely piloted aircraft, airborne sensors, and advanced electric, electronic, wireless and laser technologies.

General Atomics Integrated Intelligence (Rome, NY) is seeking a skilled and motivated System Administrator to join its growing team. Candidates must have a strong background in Linux administration and Networking with an ability to work as part of a diverse team as well as independently. In this role, you will deploy, maintain, and support the operation and security of organizational systems and networks.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Plans and coordinates day-to-day functions to ensure the operation and maintenance of computer systems, including Windows, Linux and Unix operating systems and applications.
  • Determines solution(s) for moderately complex system problems. Troubleshoots and evaluates hardware ad software.
  • Guides and develops the plan for the implementation of system changes or upgrades including deployment, resource requirements, testing, documentation, integration, compliance, and safety.
  • May participate in planning for future applications or solutions based on new technology.
  • May be the primary contact with suppliers and vendors.
  • Maintains the strict confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Responsible for observing all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.

Job Qualifications:
  • Typically requires a bachelor's degree in information technology or a related discipline and three or more years of progressive professional systems administration experience in an information technology department primarily in systems administration. May substitute equivalent working experience in the field in lieu of education.
  • Strong Linux administration skills.
  • Strong knowledge of networking (e.g., TCP/IP, OSI model).
  • Proficient in service configuration (e.g., DNS, DHCP, SSH, NFS).
  • Proficient in virtualization technologies.
  • Proficient in shell scripting.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex, interconnected systems with strong problem solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Experience with RedHat Enterprise Linux and Ubuntu.
  • Strong documentation skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain DoD Security Clearance is required.

Value-Added Skills & Experience:
  • Microsoft Windows administration
  • Familiarity with CMMC, NIST SP 800-171, NIST SP 800-53r4, or DISA STIG requirements
  • Centralized Authentication
  • Configuration Management (e.g., SaltStack)
  • Information System Security knowledge
  • Experience with Nessus or vulnerability scanning
  • Monitoring tools and log aggregation
  • Containerization (e.g., Docker, Podman)
  • Certifications that map to DoDI 8570.01-M (e.g., Linux+, Security+)

Salary:$62,460 - $105,533
