Job Summary
General Atomics (GA), and its affiliated companies, is one of the world’s leading resources for high-technology systems development ranging from the nuclear fuel cycle to remotely piloted aircraft, airborne sensors, and advanced electric, electronic, wireless and laser technologies.

We are seeking a Mid-Level RF Engineer to support the development and deployment of advanced RF systems for defense applications. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in the design, implementation, testing, and integration of RF subsystems, including antennas, radios, RF cable assemblies, and related hardware. A solid understanding of electrical and electronic systems is essential, and experience in systems engineering is a strong plus.

This role involves working as part of a multidisciplinary team to deliver rugged, mission-ready RF solutions for ground, air, and maritime defense platforms under demanding environmental and performance conditions.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Design and develop RF subsystems for defense platforms, including antennas, filters, amplifiers, and transceivers.
  • Perform RF system-level analysis, including link budgets, path loss, and interference assessments.
  • Conduct lab and field-testing using industry-standard RF test equipment (spectrum analyzers, VNAs, signal generators, etc.).
  • Integrate RF systems with electrical and embedded systems across multiple platforms.
  • Support the installation and verification of RF hardware in operational environments (e.g., military vehicles, aircraft, and ships).
  • Collaborate with systems engineers to derive requirements and ensure system-level compatibility.
  • Generate and maintain detailed technical documentation, including test plans, interface control documents, and installation procedures.
  • Provide technical support during prototyping, production, and customer delivery.

Job Qualifications:
  • Typically requires a bachelors degree, masters degree or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and progressive engineering experience as follows; six or more years of experience with a bachelors degree, four or more years of experience with a masters degree, or two or more years with a PhD.
  • May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education.
  • Must have a thorough understanding of engineering concepts, principles, codes, and theory; experience demonstrating a broad application of those concepts; and, expanding knowledge of principles, concepts, theory, and practices in related technical specialties.
  • Must possess the ability to develop and communicate new concepts; apply them accurately throughout an evolving environment; organize, schedule, and coordinate work phases; and, determine the appropriate approach at the task level or, with assistance, at the project level to provide solutions to a range of complex problems.
  • Must have strong communication, computer, documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team; able to perform complex tasks in one or more engineering areas; capable of representing the organization as a prime technical contact and, lead a team of moderately experienced professional employees on single component projects.
  • Able to work extended hours as required.
  • A Professional Engineering License and original work published in professional engineering journals are desirable.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain DoD Security Clearance is required.

Salary:$89,110 - $155,680
