Job Summary General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI), an affiliate of General Atomics, is a world leader in proven, reliable remotely piloted aircraft and tactical reconnaissance radars, as well as advanced high-resolution surveillance systems.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position operates with limited direction and significant autonomy, determining technical objectives for the review, research, design, development, and modification of enterprise-wide software applications. Responsibilities include guiding the successful completion of programs, potentially serving in a project leadership role, and formulating long-term plans for application development and deployment while ensuring compliance with software standards. The role involves evaluating software integration within the broader computing environment, overseeing documentation, testing, maintenance, and updates, and communicating with domain experts, users, and management throughout the software development lifecycle. Additionally, the position represents the company as the primary technical contact on contracts and projects, interacting with senior external personnel on significant technical matters requiring organizational coordination.
  • Determine technical objectives for user requirements and specifications, planning enterprise software development across end-user, system-level, and data management applications.
  • Formulate plans and guide the development and implementation of software solutions, including language, coding, platform, resource requirements, testing, and documentation.
  • Plan and coordinate deployment of enterprise applications, ensuring cross-platform compliance and availability of necessary resources.
  • Plan and coordinate the maintenance of enterprise solutions, including debugging, updating, and ensuring viability in evolving environments.
  • Plan for future applications based on advancements in computer technology.
  • Function in a leadership role for projects and programs, providing direction and guidance to less experienced developers or teams.
  • Represent the organization as the primary technical contact for projects and programs, interfacing with developers, customers, management, and the wider community through technical publications and presentations.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Observe all applicable laws, regulations, and obligations while conducting business on behalf of the company.
  • Ensure safe work practices in accordance with established procedures and guidelines.

Job Qualifications:
  • Typically requires a bachelor’s degree, master’s degree, or PhD in computer science, information systems, or a related discipline, with progressive software development experience. May substitute equivalent experience in lieu of education.
  • Detailed and extensive expertise in software development concepts, principles, and theory.
  • Demonstrates extensive expertise and application of programming and analysis concepts.
  • Ability to organize, plan, schedule, conduct, and coordinate workloads to meet established deadlines or milestones, with some experience in project leadership.
  • Ability to quickly understand new concepts and apply them accurately in an evolving environment.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills for effective interaction with other departments, customers, government representatives, and professionals.
  • Capability to represent the organization as a prime technical contact.
  • Ability to provide leadership and guidance to less experienced professionals.
  • Must be customer-focused, able to work independently or in a team environment.
  • Ability to work extended hours and travel as required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance is required
