Job Summary General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI), an affiliate of General Atomics, is a world leader in proven, reliable remotely piloted aircraft and tactical reconnaissance radars, as well as advanced high-resolution surveillance systems.

We have an immediate opportunity for an undergraduate student, majoring in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering, with a specialization in any of the following, to intern at our GA-ASI: Agile Mission Systems (AMS) division.

This intern will directly support a Senior Systems Engineer within the Advanced Algorithms group. This will be a year-round opportunity, so students must be local to San Diego.
  • Assist algorithms engineer in day to day task and activities.
  • Explain complex algorithms to another employee.
  • Design and perform research, analysis, and experiments as requested.
  • Develop electronic and hard copy reports, diagrams, and charts summarizing the results of the requested research, analysis, or experiment.
  • Conduct web searches and typeset technical articles utilizing Microsoft Word and excel.
  • Prepare Power Point presentations in Microsoft PowerPoint.
  • Conduct research on digital signal processing.

Job Qualifications:
  • Typically requires enrollment as a undergraduate student at a recognized college or university.
  • Must possess: The ability to understand new concepts and apply them accurately.
  • The ability to follow general instructions as well as organizational policies and procedures.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to enable an effective interface with internal professionals.
  • The ability to work independently or in a team environment.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Previous experience programming in C, C++ and MATLAB.
  • Previous experience with MS Office Suite.
  • Ability to type 40 words per minute. There will be a 2 minute typing test.
  • Must be local to San Diego, CA.
  • Must be able to work 20 hours per week, during core business hours.
  • This will be a year round opportunity. MUST be able to work for 1 year, as an intern.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain DoD security clearance is required.

Salary:$44,590 - $66,295
