Job Summary At General Atomics Integrated Intelligence, Inc. (GA-i3), we are redefining situational awareness for the Intelligence Community, Department of Defense, and commercial sectors. Our innovative platforms—such as Optix, Thresher and Dragonspell—process petabytes of streaming data in near real time, applying advanced algorithms and machine learning to deliver actionable intelligence. Our browser-based applications empower users to visualize, analyze, and understand complex environments across land, sea, and air.

As a Senior Frontend Engineering Team Lead, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our situational awareness capabilities. You will work alongside a talented team to develop and deploy enterprise-level applications that transform raw data into meaningful insights. Your expertise will guide the design and implementation of intuitive, high-performance user interfaces that meet the needs of our diverse user base.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Software Development: Oversee the design, development, and implementation of software solutions, ensuring they meet user requirements and adhere to best practices.
  • Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of software engineers by providing regular one-on-one coaching and conducting annual performance reviews to support development and drive growth.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with UX/UI designers, product management, and other stakeholders to define project requirements and deliverables.
  • Code Quality: Conduct code reviews, ensuring code quality and adherence to standards.
  • Agile Practices: Lead agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify areas for process improvement and implement solutions to enhance team efficiency and product quality.

Job Qualifications:
  • Education: Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience: 7+ years of professional experience in frontend software development, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in JavaScript frameworks (e.g., React, AngularJS, Vue.js).
    • Strong understanding of TypeScript, CSS3, and HTML5.
    • Experience with state management libraries (e.g., Redux, Vuex).
    • Knowledge of responsive design principles and cross-browser compatibility.
    • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and tools (e.g., GitLab CI/CD, Jenkins).
  • Security Clearance: Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance with SCI eligibility is required.
Preferred Skills and Experience
  • Leadership: Demonstrated experience in leading and mentoring software engineering teams.
  • Data Visualization: Familiarity with data visualization libraries (e.g., D3.js, amCharts).
  • Geospatial Tools: Experience with map-based applications using OpenLayers, Leaflet, or Google Maps.
  • Cloud Technologies: Experience with AWS-hosted environments, Docker containerization, and Kubernetes.
  • Additional Skills:
    • Experience with CSS preprocessors (e.g., SASS, LESS).
    • Knowledge of RESTful APIs.
    • Familiarity with Storybook to write reusable components for design systems.
    • Comfortable working with Linux systems.
