We are seeking an experienced Quality Engineer to address corrective actions & process improvements supporting the CAPA/Special Projects team in Poway, CA. This role is responsible for leading non-reporting teams in the response to product and process CAPAs affecting a wide array of business processes including component manufacturing, aircraft and GCS integration, compliance findings, and other categories under the umbrella of AS9100 compliance. This role also contributes to new process development and risk-based preventive action identification & execution.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Investigate technical and non-technical process and product defects, preparing briefings on topics to leadership & support teams.
  • Lead cross functional teams responsible for corrective and preventive actions associated with processes or product nonconformances in the factory or supply chain.
  • Lead root cause analysis on complex business process breakdowns & technical product anomalies discovered within the factory or supply chain.
  • Identify risk-based opportunities for improvement, using common industry tools like PFMEA, process mapping, and statistical data analysis.
  • Establish and monitor measures for capturing effectiveness of solutions.
  • Provide project management including the implementation, deployment and sustaining of CI improvements and change management initiatives.
  • Lead projects to develop new processes aimed at risk-based opportunities for improvement.
  • Formulate process concepts, document via presentations & procedures, develop & deploy training for affected stakeholder teams.

Job Qualifications:
  • Typically requires a bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in engineering and progressive engineering experience as follows; six or more years of experience with a bachelor’s degree or four or more years of experience with a master’s degree. May substitute equivalent experience in lieu of education
  • Must have strong leadership skills, independent and unbiased, capable of quickly gaining trust and loyalty and inspiring/coaching others while developing effective working relationships with superiors, subordinates, peers, customers, and others.
  • Must act with urgency when product related concerns have the potential to affect safety of personnel, fielded product or customer schedules.
  • Must have experience influencing others to achieve desired outcomes with non-reporting support staff and peers.
  • Must possess strong problem-solving skills and excel in analyzing relevant and essential facts.
  • Must demonstrate ability to understand new concepts & technical content quickly, applying learned information in a fast-paced environment for tactical purposes.
  • Must have excellent communication, computer, documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain DoD Secret security clearance required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Knowledge of GA-ASI organizations, processes, and products preferred.
  • Experience with engineering development, various manufacturing processes, supply chain sourcing, and process improvement.
  • Experience with SAP enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems
  • Experience with project planning, investigation, and milestone reporting.
  • Experience with problem solving techniques such as root cause analysis, process mapping, and leading Kaizen events.
  • Displays eagerness to investigate and the ability to make sound decisions when faced with multi-faceted problems by effectively weighing risks, uncertainties, and assumptions.
  • Lean / Six Sigma green belt desired, black belt preferred.

Salary:$89,180 - $155,825
