Job Summary General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI), an affiliate of General Atomics, is a world leader in proven, reliable remotely piloted aircraft and tactical reconnaissance radars, as well as advanced high-resolution surveillance systems.

Under general supervision with review, this position is responsible for determining and developing effective approaches for resolving a wide range of difficult engineering problems. Assignments are normally outlined in terms of overall objectives and anticipated results. Work is reviewed at milestones or at completion for adequacy in meeting objectives. Documents findings, communicates results to engineering staff and makes technical presentations as required. May coordinate segments of a specific project and may have frequent inter- organization and some customer contact on technical issues. Supports other technical staff and will collaborate with other professional staff and enterprise resources.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Supports tasks related to mechanical engineering and design of integrated systems into a wide range of platform products by evaluating, interpreting needs and developing effective approaches to resolving issues.
  • Utilize 3D CAD tools and data management software to address designs and meet configuration requirements
  • Provides documentation and makes technical presentations as required.
  • May represent the organization in providing solutions to technical issues associated with specific projects.
  • Maintains the strict confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Responsible for observing all laws, regulations, and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.
  • Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.

Job Qualifications:
  • Must have a basic understanding of engineering concepts, principles, requirements, and theory and apply them throughout an evolving environment.

  • Demonstrates the ability to follow and apply basic engineering knowledge, adapt standard techniques

  • Utilize 3D CAD modeling software to generate design solutions.

  • Hands-on mechanical engineering knowledge and skill is desired.

  • Collaborate with teams for prototype and production part manufacturing from machine and fabrication shops.

  • Able to understand with limited support basic testing including test planning, test execution, test results interpretation and documentation

  • Basic understanding of drawing requirements with the ability to read and generate engineering drawings.

  • Basic understanding of Geometric Tolerancing and Dimensioning principals. Understanding of Model Based Definition (MBD) is desired

  • Possess organizational skills, understand schedule, and work phases.

  • Good communication, computer, and interpersonal skills are required to enable an effective interface with other professionals, to produce appropriate documentation, and to present results to a limited internal audience.

  • Use of CREO, Windchill, and Simulate is required. Use of Siemens NX, Teamcenter, and Sim-Center are highly desired

  • Ability to utilize Microsoft products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint is also required.

  • Must be able to work both independently and on a team and be self-motivated.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain DoD Security Clearance is required.

  • Able to work extended hours as required.


Salary:$62,510 - $105,628
