Job Summary General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI), is a world leader in Unmanned Combat Air Vehicles (UCAV), defense technologies, and advanced sensing capabilities. Agile Mission Systems (AMS) Electrical Engineering at GA-ASI in Poway, CA is seeking high-performing technical contributors, unique talent, and experienced leaders. In this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for managing and leading the AMS EE Prototype Integration Team, supporting payload and pod development, new system integration, and sustainment across all GA-ASI platforms. In addition to serving as a Manager, this individual must be a high performing Technical Contributor, solving complex integration issues using a “hands on” approach.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Subject Matter Expert (SME) for electronic payload and podded system architecture, design, development, and sustainment.
  • Perform engineering design, fabricate electronic systems, and generate technical data packages. Support GA-ASI design assurance processes.
  • Lead and manage a high-performing team of Engineers and Technicians in support of new system development, including payload and podded systems. Establish and maintain consistent team expectations, ensure the quality of the group’s work products, conduct performance management, and provide training and mentoring for the team.
  • Maintain group manpower and ensure appropriate resources and skillsets are available through hiring, mentoring, internal cross-training, external courses, and targeted individual career growth.
  • Represent programs as the Prototype Integration Engineering lead, ensuring consistent and appropriate messaging to external customer stakeholders.
  • Support engineering estimates and proposals in response to customer and leadership directives.

Job Qualifications:
  • Typically requires a Bachelors, Masters, or PhD in Engineering or a related technical field as well as nine or more years of progressively complex engineering experience with at least three of those years having management responsibilities. May substitute equivalent experience in lieu of education.
  • Demonstrates knowledge in the application of engineering principles, concepts, theory, and practice as well as project management and leadership skills including organizing, planning, scheduling, and coordinating workloads to meet established deadlines or milestones.
  • Must possess the ability to resolve management and technical problems. Strong communication, leadership, presentation, and interpersonal skills are required to enable an effective interface with other departments, all levels of management, professional and support staff, customers, potential customers, and government representatives.
  • Experience in developing and integrating hardware and software as a member of cross-functional teams.
  • Direct technical expertise and experience with:
    • Multi-Mode Radars, SIGINT and ELINT systems, Communications, and other complex electronic systems.
    • Product Management, Proposal Development, Basis of Estimation, and DoD Product development experience.
  • Customer focused, must be able to work on a self-initiated basis and in a team environment, and able to work extended hours and travel as required.
