We have an exciting opportunity located in Poway, CA for a Project Engineering Supervisor Project Engineering (PE) Supervisor to oversee the USAF LOH Project Engineering Team under the USAF Development Manager.

The candidate will oversee the PE team that works with the customer and other functional engineering groups to conceptualize, design, enhance, and integrate software capabilities for the MQ-9A Unmanned Air Vehicle (UAV) System, including Ground Control Station and Training Systems. The PE Supervisor will oversee the individuals and overall team to accomplish the project objectives within the given project timeline. The applicant must be able to effectively communicate with all functional engineering departments, all program management specialties, external customers, sub-contractors, and vendors.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Delegate responsibilities to the PE team and monitor progress and quality of work performed.
  • Initiate the planning of engineering projects.
  • Mentor and guide less experienced employees.
  • Develop innovative designs or modifications to meet project goals.
  • Communicate and coordinate with other engineering departments (safety, flight technologies, systems, software, quality etc.) to complete tasks in accordance with project requirements.
  • Apply technical knowledge to analyze, investigate and resolve assigned engineering problems.
  • Resolve conflicting design/development requirements, difficult coordination requirements, and special material requirements.
  • Perform functional testing and troubleshooting equipment and systems in assigned areas by utilizing standard engineering and scientific principles.
  • Obtain and analyze test data and document findings.
  • Represent the organization as the prime technical contact on Lead Off Hitter software development projects.
  • Make technical presentations to internal staff and customer representatives, as necessary.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Responsible for observing all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.
  • Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.

Job Qualifications:
  • Typically requires a bachelors degree, masters degree or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and progressive engineering experience as follows; twelve or more years of experience with a bachelors degree, ten or more years of experience with a masters degree, or seven or more years with a PhD. May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education.
  • Demonstrates a detailed and extensive technical expertise and application of engineering principles, concepts, theory, and practice with the ability to organize, plan, schedule, conduct, and coordinate workloads to meet established deadlines or milestones with some experience in project leadership.
  • Must possess the ability to understand new concepts quickly and apply them accurately throughout an evolving environment; strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills to effectively interface with other departments, customers, government representatives, and/or professionals.
  • Capability of representing the organization as a prime technical contact.
  • Ability to provide leadership and guidance to less experienced professionals.
  • Must be customer focused and able to work on a self- initiated basis or in a team environment.
  • Able to work extended hours and travel as required.
  • A Professional Engineering License, original work(s) published in professional engineering journals, invited to present one or more original works to an engineering symposium, and invited and/or participated on an engineering review panel are desirable.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance is required.
  • Desirable qualifications:
    • Technical project experience includes planning, design, documentation, design reviews, testing, scheduling, and presenting technical information.
    • Familiar with Microsoft Office Software (Word, Excel, Power Point, Project, Visio).
    • Common sense application of engineering and physics principles to everyday life.
    • Background in using and maintaining UAS training systems.
    • General understanding of network engineering, software engineering, and/or aerospace engineering.
