We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Spacecraft Structural Analysis Engineer to join our Mechanical Engineering Team working with satellite development and orbital activities.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Can function in a team environment developing engineering solutions that require creative designs, detailed analysis, investigation and resolution of routine engineering problems.
Will work on spacecraft and payload systems, high energy lasers, electro-optical systems and other various systems.
Ability to perform structural and dynamic analysis on component, spacecraft and launch vehicle systems
Experience with the design, analysis, build and test of advanced space hardware. Apply statistical methods and perform mathematical calculations to evaluate strength and dynamic capabilities.
Determines technical objectives and develop innovative, practical solutions to advanced technical engineering problems.
Addresses complex and difficult technical issues requiring highly creative approaches, drawing on advanced engineering concepts.
Ability to work and lead in a multidisciplinary team environment.
Hands on work environment and high level of interaction with system components. Oversee prototype builds and implement lessons learned into design.

Job Qualifications:

Typically requires a bachelors degree, masters degree or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and progressive engineering experience as follows; six or more years of experience with a bachelors degree, four or more years of experience with a masters degree, or two or more years with a PhD. May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education.
Candidate must have experience with structural design and analysis.
Exposure to laboratory environment preferred, including materials characterization, materials testing, vibration testing, and failure analysis.
Must possess real world experience analyzing modal, random vibration, shock, and stress including correlation of analytical results to test.
Experienced with aluminum honeycomb panels is a plus.
Ideal candidate has mechanical design experience as well.
Experience with application of analytical results to relevant structural codes and criteria including fatigue and fracture analysis.
Previous experience with optical system, flight systems, or military systems is desired.
Experience with space / launch environments a plus.
Experience with CAD, FEA software such as Solidworks, ANSYS, NASTRAN, FEMAP is required.
Experience with Matlab is helpful
Demonstrates an extensive technical expertise and application of engineering principles, concepts, theory, and practice with the ability to organize, plan, schedule, conduct, and coordinate workloads to meet established deadlines or milestones with some experience in project leadership.
Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills are required enabling an effective interface with other departments and/or professionals, and capable of representing the organization as a prime technical contact, as well as providing leadership and guidance to less experienced professionals.
Customer focused, formulates plans based on the development of innovative new designs in resolving advanced technical engineering problems.
Must be able to work both independently and in a team environment.
A Professional Engineering License, original work(s) published in professional engineering journals, and invited to present one or more original works to an engineering symposium are desirable.
Must have a thorough understanding of engineering concepts, principles, codes, and theory; experience demonstrating a broad application of those concepts; and, expanding knowledge of principles, concepts, theory, and practices in related technical specialties.
Must possess the ability to develop and communicate new concepts; apply them accurately throughout an evolving environment; organize, schedule, and coordinate work phases; and, determine the appropriate approach at the task level or, with assistance, at the project level to provide solutions to a range of complex problems.
Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance is required. Active and current TS-SCI clearance- desired.

Salary:$98,100 - $171,398
