GA-EMS offers modular and scalable satellite platforms backed with a history of operational flight experience to support defense, civil, commercial, and academic mission requirements.

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Satellite Flight Software Developer to join our team located in Englewood, CO. This position may also be supported remotely from one of our facilities in:

  • Englewood, CO (preferred)
  • San Diego, CA
  • Herndon, VA
  • Boulder, CO
  • Huntsville, AL

The primary responsibility for this role is C/C++ and Python software application development for embedded real-time systems. Development tasks range from low-level Board Support Package (BSP) creation for avionics solutions to Flight Software Applications running as real-time software on our satellites.

Secondary responsibilities include C/C++ and Python ground software application development, where the ground software is deployed as Amazon cloud services. These applications enable command and control of our satellites and support satellite operations. This position will involve participation in and collaboration with a small development team.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Execute technical objectives within the software development life cycle phases: Requirements, Design, Implementation, and Testing.
  • Ensure compliance with General Atomics processes throughout development.
  • Collaborate with the team to develop software solutions that support planned product deliveries.

Job Qualifications:

REQUIRED:

  • Typically requires a bachelors degree, masters degree or PhD in computer science, information systems or a related discipline and progressive software development experience as follows; four or more years of experience with a bachelors degree or two or more years of experience with a masters degree. May substitute equivalent experience in lieu of education.
  • Proficiency in software development using C/C++ and Python.
  • Hands-on experience in embedded software and real-time applications, such as real-time Linux or VxWorks.
  • Knowledge of the software development life cycle, including requirements, design, implementation, and testing.
  • Familiarity with Agile SCRUM methodologies.
  • Experience working in Linux-based development environments.

DESIRED:

  • Background in NASA’s Core Flight Software (cFS) framework.
  • Experience in cloud-based development.
  • Expertise in implementing CI/CD pipelines, including DevOps and DevSecOps practices.
  • Proficiency with Atlassian tools such as JIRA, BitBucket, and Bamboo.
  • Knowledge of Docker containerization.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance is required; active and current Top-Secret clearance is desired.
