Job Summary General Atomics (GA), and its affiliated companies, is one of the world’s leading resources for high-technology systems development ranging from the nuclear fuel cycle to remotely piloted aircraft, airborne sensors, and advanced electric, electronic, wireless and laser technologies.
Whether a specific satellite for a specific mission or a constellation of interconnected spacecraft, the GA-EMS Space Systems team is re-defining how customers can access the possibilities of space. GA-EMS offers modular and scalable satellite platforms backed with a history of operational flight experience to support defense, civil, commercial, and academic mission requirements.

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Platform & Network Engineer to join our Ground Systems & Mission Operations team located in Englewood, CO.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Design, deploy, and maintain Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud environments, including services such as AWS CloudFormation, Compute, Networking, Lambda, S3, EFS, IAM roles, policies, and VPN service.
  • Implement security hardening techniques and ensure compliance with Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) for Windows, Linux systems.
  • Manage Microsoft Active Directory infrastructure and configuration.
  • Conduct configuration management using tools such as OSSEC and Ansible.
  • Set up and maintain monitoring solutions, specifically Datadog and NESSUS, including dashboard configuration and management.
  • Manage virtual infrastructure using VMware ESXi and VMware vCenter.
  • Administer virus scan utilities, including Cloud Virus Scan, ClamAV, and Sophos.
  • Oversee network management and configuration, including IPSec and Cisco networking.
  • Troubleshoot network and system issues, identifying root causes and generating analysis briefings.
  • Design and support hybrid cloud architectures to expedite the delivery of ground control systems for space missions.
  • Collaborate with program and engineering staff on design, integration, and test matters, supporting other teams as necessary.
  • Support agile execution to include backlog creation, grooming and participation in daily scrums
  • Support compliance with NIST and ISO standards for security and program operations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Job Qualifications:
  • Typically requires a bachelors degree, masters degree or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and progressive engineering experience as follows; six or more years of experience with a bachelors degree, four or more years of experience with a masters degree, or two or more years with a PhD. May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education.
  • Expertise in AWS cloud architecture and services, including CloudFormation, Lambda, and IAM.
  • Proficiency in Windows and Linux systems administration, including RHEL and SLES.
  • Experience with security hardening techniques and compliance frameworks such as STIG, NIST, and ISO.
  • Knowledge of network protocols (e.g., TCP/IP) and tools for configuration management (e.g., OSSEC, Ansible).
  • Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and technical communication skills to support mission-critical operations.
  • Prior experience with IT administration for satellite command and control systems is highly desired.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Security Clearance is required
