GA-EMS offers modular and scalable satellite platforms backed with a history of operational flight experience to support defense, civil, commercial, and academic mission requirements.

Our Space Systems team is looking for an experienced engineering team leader for our Space Systems Ground Design department. In this role you’ll lead and manage the Ground Segment Design department, providing strategic and technical leadership to drive program execution, talent development, and the advancement of enterprise satellite mission operations capabilities.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Manage the Ground Design department, providing oversight of ground systems engineering and mission operations development activities.
  • Lead the development and execution of the strategic roadmap for ground segment design to support capture of future programs.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and direction to systems engineering staff.
  • Ensure programs are staffed with resources possessing the appropriate skill mix to achieve cost, schedule, and technical execution objectives.
  • Support the advancement and continuous improvement of enterprise satellite mission operations capabilities.
  • Actively contribute to program execution as a team lead or individual contributor, as needed, to address challenges and ensure program success.
  • Assist in preparing, reviewing, and approving cost and resource estimates for proposals and Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs) to ensure accuracy and alignment with program objectives and organizational processes.
  • Oversee performance development, conduct regular reviews, and implement development planning for direct reports to foster growth and ensure alignment with organizational goals.
  • Support the recruitment, selection, and retention of technical talent within the team to build and maintain a high-performing group.
  • Ensure work is accomplished safely and in accordance with established procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and company policies in all business activities.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of proprietary technology and sensitive information.

Job Qualifications:
  • Typically requires a Bachelors, Masters or PhD in engineering or a related technical field as well as eleven or more years of progressively complex engineering experience with at least five of those years having management responsibilities. May substitute equivalent experience in lieu of education.
  • 5+ years of leadership experience supporting satellite ground segment design and development.
  • Prior Satellite operations experience is desired.
  • Demonstrates technical expertise in the application of engineering principles, concepts, theory, and practice as well as project management and leadership skills including organizing, planning, scheduling, and coordinating workloads to meet established deadlines or milestones.
  • Must possess the ability to resolve complex management and technical problems.
  • Strong communication, leadership, presentation, and interpersonal skills are required to enable an effective interface with other departments, all levels of management, professional and support staff, customers, potential customers, and government representatives.
  • Customer focused, must be able to work on a self-initiated basis and in a team environment, and able to work extended hours and travel as required.
  • Must have active Top Secret DoD security clearance and be able to obtain and maintain TS/SCI security clearance.

Salary:$125,810 - $229,670
