Job Summary General Atomics (GA), and its affiliated companies, is one of the world’s leading resources for high-technology systems. Whether a specific satellite for a specific mission or a constellation of interconnected spacecraft, the GA-EMS Space Systems team is re-defining how customers can access the possibilities of space. GA-EMS offers modular and scalable satellite platforms backed with a history of operational flight experience to support defense, civil, commercial, and academic mission requirements.
Our space systems team is looking to add a Space Mission Systems Engineer to support our space system development programs.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support space system Concept of Operations (CONOPs) development and ensure the ground segment design and Mission Operations Plan satisfies the program CONOPs.
- Responsible for the development and maintenance of Mission Operations Plans, to include LEOP
- Support integration & test phases as programs transition to dress rehearsals
- Support mission dress rehearsal planning and execution
- Prepare technical reports, presentations, and documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
- Using traditional and Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) approaches lead and contribute to the development all SE work products which may include:
- System Architecture development of complex systems and CONOPS development
- Requirements and Interface Control Document (ICD) development
- Ground Services Integration, Test and/or Verification
- Design reviews, milestone reviews such as SRR, PDR, CDR, IRR, TRR, PSR
- Contributes to conduct of program design and readiness reviews.
- Expected to be part of on-call rotation for on-orbit operations
- Collaborate with multiple teams across the program to deliver and maintain the best operational system and seek efficiencies.
- Opportunities will arise to support internal development and new business opportunities.

Job Qualifications:
- Typically requires a bachelors degree, masters degree or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and progressive engineering experience as follows; six or more years of experience with a bachelors degree, four or more years of experience with a masters degree, or two or more years with a PhD. May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education.
- Prior experience in space domain and satellite segment design desired.
- Familiarity with the following tools is desired: Cameo or Magic Draw, DOORS, Atlassian (JIRA, Confluence)
- Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills are required enabling an effective leadership interface with other departments, all levels of management, professional and support staff, customers, potential customers, and government representatives.
- Must have active DoD Top Secret security clearance and be able to obtain and maintain TS/SCI security clearance.
Salary:$98,100 - $171,398
