Job Summary General Atomics (GA), and its affiliated companies, is one of the world’s leading resources for high-technology systems development ranging from the nuclear fuel cycle to remotely piloted aircraft, airborne sensors, and advanced electric, electronic, wireless and laser technologies.
General Atomics Electromagnetic Systems (GA-EMS) designs and manufactures first-of-a-kind electromagnetic and electric power generation systems. GA-EMS’ expanding portfolio of specialized products and integrated system solutions support critical fleet, space systems and satellites, missile defense, power and energy, and process and monitoring applications for defense, industrial, and commercial customers worldwide.
We are seeking a Senior Electrical/Radio Frequency (RF) Engineer to join the GA-EMS Radar Technologies team. In this role, the candidate will play a key part in leading electrical design and test efforts to support the development of new air and ground-based designs. The Senior Electrical/RF Engineer will report directly to the Manager of Hardware Engineering within the Radar Technologies group.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBLITIES:
- Design electrical and RF circuits and subsystems for Electronic Warfare (EW) systems, conduct simulations and modeling to predict system behavior and refine designs
 - Develop and maintain electrical and RF design requirements from high-level system performance specifications
 - Perform bench-level evaluation and troubleshooting using specialized equipment including, but not limited to, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, signal generators, and oscilloscopes
 - Integrate EW subsystems into larger platforms and ensure compatibility with other onboard systems
 - Create technical documentation, including design specifications, test reports, and user manuals
 - Utilize software tools like MATLAB, LabView, Visual Basic, Python, and others to operate test equipment, enhance data acquisition, and analyze measured results
 - Collaborate with the Hardware, Software, and Systems engineering teams to meet deadlines, budgets, and technical requirements
 - Represent the company at technical reviews, meetings and formal design reviews
 - Stay updated on advancements in radar, RF systems, and electromagnetic spectrum technologies

Job Qualifications:
- Typically requires a bachelors degree, masters degree or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and progressive engineering experience as follows; twelve or more years of experience with a bachelors degree, ten or more years of experience with a masters degree, or seven or more years with a PhD. May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education
 - Displays comprehensive technical expertise along with a thorough application of engineering principles, concepts, theory, and practice
 - Demonstrates the ability to effectively organize, plan, schedule, execute, and coordinate tasks to meet deadlines or milestones, with some project leadership experience
 - Proven experience simulating and designing RF circuits, subsystems, and assemblies using tools such as MATLAB, Simulink, Keysight Genesys, HFSS, and/or CST
 - Adept in electrical and RF measurement techniques and proficient in using standard laboratory equipment—including network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, and similar devices—to achieve accurate measurement data
 - Must possess the ability to understand new concepts quickly and apply them accurately throughout a fast-paced, R&D environment
 - Must have strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills to effectively interface with other departments, customers, and/or professionals
 - Must be customer focused and able to work on a self-initiated basis or in a team environment
 - Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance required
 
DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Demonstrated experience designing modules and subsystems for radars and/or Electronic Warfare systems
 - Prior experience designing analog, digital, and/or Radio Frequency (RF) Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs)
 - Previous experience working with the Department of Defense
 - Active security clearance
