With general direction, this position is responsible for representing the company on local stakeholder and regulatory affairs and advising business units and other stakeholders on issues that impact Company priorities and pursuits. Monitors progress of local stakeholder engagement and regulatory issues of interest to the company and provides analysis to company stakeholders. Develops strategy approaches to address policy issues, technology requirements, etc. Maintains contact with government officials and other relevant contacts to support Company priorities.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Advises business units and P&L's, ISD and other strategic development organizations on government policy initiatives related to the Company's priorities and pursuits.
  • Educates and advises internal stakeholders on government policy, regulatory and other matters that impact the Company's work initiatives.
  • Contributes to the development of strategies to address technology release in the program planning phase and communicate government and regulatory release and export community feedback and guidance to company stakeholders.
  • Maintains network of government and other relevant contacts through direct engagement and other means to influence and shape government policy.
  • Contributes to the development of strategic approaches, across the enterprise, for addressing government and regulatory issues.
  • Identifies potential strategies for new partnerships to progress company priorities.
  • Provides initial drafts of documentation to include white papers, talking points, etc. for government and regulatory officials and internal business leaders. May deliver presentations to senior managers and external parties.
  • Monitor and interpret applicable environmental and safety regulations for internal stakeholders, including NRC, EPA, NMED, OSHA, and requirements related to Company's priorities.
  • Support permit and license applications related to Company priorities.
  • Serve as company liaison to regulatory agencies during audits, inspections, and enforcement actions.
  • Assist in drafting company-wide environmental health and safety policies in alignment with applicable law and best practices.
  • Maintain the strict confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Coordinate land access agreements, surface use permissions, and entry notifications in alignment with operational schedules and legal requirements in support of Company priorities.
  • Responsible for ensuring all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations are observed wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.
  • Responsible for ensuring work is accomplished in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.

Job Qualifications:
  • Typically requires a Bachelors in Environmental Science or related field and six or more years of progressively complex experience in environmental regulatory affairs. May substitute equivalent experience in lieu of education.
  • Maintains a comprehensive understanding of state and federal uranium laws, groundwater protection standards, and radiological safety requirements;
  • Ability to identify issues, analyze and interpret data and develop solutions to a variety of complex issues;
  • Strong analytical, verbal and written communication skills to accurately document, report, and present findings to a variety of audiences;
  • Strong interpersonal skills to influence and guide internal and external contacts;
  • Ability to effectively and efficiently initiate, plan, and manage projects;
  • Strong computer, documentation and presentation skills. The ability to work independently or in a team environment is essential as is the ability to work extended hours and travel as required.

Salary:$73,650 - $128,663
