Job Summary General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI), an affiliate of General Atomics, is a world leader in proven, reliable remotely piloted aircraft and tactical reconnaissance radars, as well as advanced high-resolution surveillance systems.
GA’s Survivability group has an exciting position available for a Survivability Engineering Manager to provide LO design and analysis, development testing, and systems development support to a variety of projects. In this role, you would work closely with Program Management and technical team to define tactical and strategic technology development plans, and support business development activities. You would also act as Principal Investigator and provide program planning and technical leadership to IRAD and CRAD projects targeting development and implementation of Survivability technologies.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support the development of integrated RF, IR and Acoustic solutions for a range of conventional and low observable (LO) platforms with an emphasis on simulation, test and evaluation to validate proposed Survivable aircraft designs, test data reduction and reporting.
- Actively promote design solutions for LO applications, including vehicle platform shaping, material solutions, radome designs, and integrated subsystem designs consistent with established program objectives.
- The successful candidate will provide technical support and leadership to insure that work products meet requirements through fabrication and test. The successful candidate will prepare and present status/progress reports, PDR & CDR presentations, and formal proposals to senior level personnel and customers.
- Ensure compliance, reporting, and safety standards are maintained
- Observe all laws, regulations, and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company
- Work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures
- Perform other duties as required
- Typically requires a Bachelors, Masters or PhD in engineering or a related technical field as well as thirteen or more years of progressively complex engineering experience with at least seven of those years having management responsibilities. May substitute equivalent experience in lieu of education.
- Electromagnetic (EM) phenomenology experience with emphasis in the RF technology is a must, with work related experience in integration of LO designs.
- Experience in design and modeling of aircraft (or other vehicles) and low observable systems utilizing RAM2D, XPATCH, SENTRi, CARLOS, SIGLBC, SIG2D or equivalent 2D and 3D RCS analysis codes.
- Experience assessing the IR signature of aircraft using established government sanctioned codes.
- Demonstrated technical expertise and application of engineering principles, concepts, theory, and practice in a relevant industry and product.
- Strong written and oral communications skills
- Strong team player with demonstrated leadership of a technical team.
- Must possess the ability to contribute to the development of new concepts and principles.
- Ability to work extended hours and travel as required (<5%)
- US Citizenship Required.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a US DoD Top Secret clearance.
- Understanding a wide application of technical theories and concepts related to EM, RF integration of subsystems.
- Experience with Pioneer, Knowbell or other similar post processing tools.
