Job Summary
General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI), an affiliate of General Atomics, is a world leader in proven, reliable remotely piloted aircraft and tactical reconnaissance radars, as well as advanced high-resolution surveillance systems.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Lead, Senior EW/SIGINT Systems Engineer to join General Atomics Aeronautical Systems in San Diego, CA (Rancho Bernardo/Poway area).

As the ideal candidate, you should have experience in Electronic Warfare/SIGINT systems including electronic attack, electronic support, and electronic protection. You should also have experience in signal processing approaches including triangulation and trilateration for geolocation, matched filters, digital filter design, radar signal processing approaches, array processing such as beamforming, space time adaptive processing, eigenvalue approaches, etc.

This position will report to the EW/SIGINT System Engineering group. The EW/SIGINT group is responsible for requirements, architectures, and performance for all EW systems integrated on GA-ASI's family of unmanned aircraft. This group works primary on internally funded technology development programs and provides the opportunity to work on a wide variety of projects, programs, and technologies.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • With consultative direction, this position exercises considerable latitude in determining technical objectives for the review, research, design, development, and/or solution(s) for a designated engineering system(s) or project(s)/program(s).
  • Employee will work closely with software engineers, program management, and systems engineers to develop new EW/SIGINIT capabilities.
  • Develop or build upon existing models written in Matlab and/or C.
  • Analyze test data and perform trade studies to improve system performance.
  • Develop tools to score / characterize system performance.
  • Apply software architecture principles to algorithm development.
  • Define requirements and architectures.
  • Oversee mode verification and validation.
  • Documentation of algorithms and system performance.
  • Candidate should have willingness to be involved with all phases of the product development cycle.

Job Qualifications
  • Typically requires a bachelor's degree, master's degree or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and progressive engineering experience as follows; twelve or more years of experience with a bachelor's degree, nine or more years of experience with a master's degree, or four or more years with a PhD. May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education.
  • Experience with all phases of the Systems Engineering design process including: Concept of Operations, Requirements Development, Software / System Architecture, System Integration and Test, Verification and Validation Experience working with Matlab Modeling, Simulation, and Data Analysis.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills are required enabling an effective leadership interface with other departments, all levels of Management, professional and support staff, customers, potential customers, and government representatives.
  • Customer focused, formulates plans based on the development of innovative new designs in resolving advanced technical engineering problems.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance. (Requires U.S. Citizenship and no criminal or credit issues.)
  • Skills that are not required but are desired include:
    • Experience with AFSIM.
    • Experience with space systems.
    • Experience with RF hardware (transceivers, antennas).
  • Experience with field testing.
