We have an exciting opportunity for an Experienced Tube Bend Specialist for the ASI Fab shop Fabricator to join the Mechanical Manufacturing department at GA-ASI. This position will be located in our Poway facility of the San Diego/Poway area. This facility operates on a 9/80 schedule.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Performs programming and bending ofthin wall tube from bend data charts and engineering drawings, with and without mandrel.
  • Familiarity with Winton RD-30 CNC machine and software, as well as laser measuring technology (V-TUBE, FARO arm, Vector Laservision, etc.) is a plus.
  • Perform mathematical calculations as well as demonstrate effective verbal, written, and basic computer skills.
  • Establishes basic and moderately complex trim lines of parts and relationship of parts to each other using master tube data, master template and measuring systems.
  • Set up and operate a variety of manual and power machines to cut, form, swage, flare and burr tubing according to specifications.
  • Perform rigid tube processes, and saw cell processes with limited assistance.
  • Demonstrate effective verbal, written, and basic computer skills.
  • Required to frequently communicate with co-workers about work product and must possess ability to exchange accurate information in these situations.
  • Utilizes blue prints, sketches, drawings, verbal descriptions and sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished parts, the sequence of operations, and set up requirements.
  • Responsible for observing all laws, regulations, and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.
  • Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.
  • Other duties assigned as required.

Job Qualifications
  • Typically requires an associate's degree, certification or equivalent in a related discipline and two or more years experience in fabrication.
  • Weld (GTAW) qualifications and testing at facility is a plus, certifying to AWS D17.1
  • Good knowledge of computer operations and applications required. Must be able to read and comprehend complex blueprints, engineering drawings, sketches, and verbal and written communications.
  • Must be able to perform highly complex assignments with little or no direction.
  • Required to utilize independent judgment related to fabrication functions and activities.
  • Must possess strong working knowledge of AN and MS fasteners, AN plumbing and aircraft riveting tools and procedures.
  • Considerable knowledge of the position is required to ascertain complex and diverse problem situations and to recommend practical solutions to complex issues related to fabrication.
  • Must be able to work independently or on a team. Possesses good interpersonal skills, and verbal and written communication skills to interface with various levels of employees while performing fabrication functions.
  • Ability to work in a team in a team environment is essential as is the ability to work extended hours as required.
