Job Summary General Atomics (GA), and its affiliated companies, is one of the world’s leading resources for high-technology systems development ranging from the nuclear fuel cycle to remotely piloted aircraft, airborne sensors, and advanced electric, electronic, wireless and laser technologies.
We have an exciting opportunity for a Director of Operations and Infrastructure to join our Electromagnetic Systems (EMS) team in San Diego, CA.
This position typically reports to a senior manager and is responsible for the planning, budgeting, and scheduling as well as the management and coordination of all operational aspects for an organization to ensure business and financial objectives are attained. Translates business priorities into implementable actions to achieve strategic goals. Identifies and assesses high level operational issues and consults with all levels of management to negotiate and develop solutions which meet planning schedules, quality objectives, and policies and procedures of the organization. Determines customer requirements and translates these requirements into organizational plans. Typically accomplishes objectives through subordinate management. May be responsible for decisions that have serious impact on overall success of the business where erroneous decisions could cause substantial expenditure of time and resources.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee the development and management of operational plans, budgets, and schedules as well as oversee and direct the coordination of all operational aspects for facilities and real estate portfolio management for multiple locations across the United States.
- Lead efforts to develop and improve operations through efficient and effective integrated processes, implementing common management processes/services to use organizational resources efficiently and effectively.
- Serve as liaison between program/project management, construction project leads, maintenance and repair teams, and other vendors.
- Oversee development and management of construction projects including building and equipment repair, building enhancements, and specialized equipment installation.
- Conduct operational reviews of cost and service structures, productivity measures and delivery methods to achieve planned targets.
- Oversee the development of mechanisms for monitoring progress and for problem solving with program managers, project teams, and administrative services departments while developing solutions to meet budget, schedule, quality objectives, and company policies and procedures.
- Oversee the recruitment, retention, and development of human resources to ensure the availability of the required management and professional talent needed to meet business objectives and organizational requirements.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Responsible for ensuring all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations are observed wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.
- Responsible for ensuring work is accomplished in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.
- Additional Functions Other duties as assigned or required.
Job Qualifications:
- Typically requires a Bachelors or Masters in business administration, finance, or a related field, along with fifteen or more years of progressive project administration experience with at least nine of the years managing those operations in an engineering or scientific environment. May substitute equivalent experience in lieu of education.
- Must demonstrate detailed and extensive expertise of project planning and scheduling, as well as monitoring and reporting on these activities.
- Deep understanding of budgeting, CapX, and financial forecasting.
- Have some knowledge of Construction Management, building codes, permitting, etc.
- In-depth experience in organizational and operational problem resolution is required.
- Strong leadership, communications, presentation, and interpersonal skills are also required as well as the ability to interpret and explain unusually complex operational issues.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret Clearance.
- Active TS clearance is desired.
- U.S. Citizenship required.
Salary:$140,900 - $257,233
